• There is nothing between the sides following the goalless round of 16 first leg in Ukraine, a result that extendedShakhtar's winless UEFA Champions League run to three matches. The Pitmen, however, are unbeaten in threecontinental away fixtures this term.
Match backgroundBayern• Bayern's ten previous games against Ukrainian clubs were all against FC Dynamo Kyiv, who beat the Munich team3-0 (2-0h) over two legs to lift the 1975 UEFA Super Cup.

Shakhtar• Shakhtar lost in Germany at this same juncture in 2012/13, going down 3-0 at Borussia Dortmund. At home they haddrawn 2-2, leading twice through Darijo Srna and Douglas Costa with Robert Lewandowski scoring Dortmund's firstequaliser.
• In last term's group stage, the Ukrainian champions crashed 4-0 at Bayer 04 Leverkusen and drew 0-0 at home.

Also had spellswith Brescia, Roma, al-Ahly in Doha and Mexico's Dorados de Sinola before ending his playing career in 2006. Won40 caps and Olympic footballing gold with Spain in 1992, but missed the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cups throughinjury.
• Having coached Barcelona's B team, he took charge of the senior side in 2008 and won the UEFA ChampionsLeague, Spanish Liga and Copa del Rey in his first season. In the process he became the sixth man to have lifted theEuropean Cup as player and coach.
• That was just the beginning of a glorious four-season spell which yielded 14 trophies. In his second campaign,Guardiola steered Barcelona to a second Liga title as well as the Spanish and UEFA Super Cups and the FIFA ClubWorld Cup. • Fluent in six foreign languages and regarded as a workaholic, he cemented his reputation at Pisa, Brescia andReggiana before returning home for the first of two spells as Rapid coach, winning the league in 1998 and 2000.
• Returned to Serie A for a short spell at Inter in 1998/99 before a one-season return to Rapid. After joiningGalatasaray in 2000 he lifted the UEFA Super Cup in his first game as coach and took them to the Turkish title in2001/02 – a feat he repeated with Beşiktaş in 2002/03, their centenary season.
• Left Beşiktaş in 2004 and promptly joined Shakhtar, leading the Donetsk club to titles in 2005, 2006 and 2008, whenhis side also won the Ukrainian Cup.
• In May 2009, Lucescu's Shakhtar became the first Ukrainian club to win the UEFA Cup. He suffered a heart attackthat summer but swiftly returned to work, guiding the club to another league title at the end of the season and winningthe domestic double in 2010/11, when Shakhtar also reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Moresuccess followed, Luscescu's team completing a hat-trick of domestic doubles in 2012/13 and making it five leaguetitles in a row the following year.

Competition factsUEFA Champions League: Did you know?• In 2012/13, Chelsea FC became the first defending champions to fail to get through a group stage since the UEFAChampions League began. (This record, like the others, includes the seasons between 1999/2000 and 2002/03 thatfeatured a second group stage). In 1992/93, FC Barcelona were the reigning European Champion Clubs' Cup holdersand lost 4-3 on aggregate in the second round to PFC CSKA Moskva.
• No team has successfully defended the UEFA Champions League trophy with AC Milan (1989, 1990) the last club towin consecutive European Cups. Milan (1994, 1995), AFC Ajax (1995, 1996), Juventus (1996, 1997) and ManchesterUnited FC (2008, 2009) have all returned to the UEFA Champions League final as holders only to lose.
• SS Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta is the oldest player to compete in the UEFA Champions League having featuredagainst Real Madrid CF on matchday six in 2007/08 aged 43 years and 252 days. Alessandro Costacurta is the oldestoutfield player; the Milan defender was 40 years and 211 days when he played against AEK Athens FC in 2006/07.
• Francesco Totti is the oldest player to score in the competition, aged 38 years and 59 days, in AS Roma's 1-1 drawat PFC CSKA Moskva on 25 November 2014. Ryan Giggs (37 years 290 days) was the previous record holder.
• Celestine Babayaro is the youngest player to have appeared; he was 16 years and 87 days when he started for RSCAnderlecht against FC Steaua Bucureşti on 23 November 1994. He was sent off in the 37th minute.
• Peter Ofori-Quaye is the youngest player to have scored in the UEFA Champions League, aged 17 years and 195days. He found the net in Olympiacos FC's 5-1 defeat at Rosenborg BK on 1 October 1997.
• Lionel Messi became the first player to score five goals in a match in Barcelona's 7-1 win against Bayer 04Leverkusen on 7 March 2012, a feat matched by FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Luiz Adriano at FC BATE Borisov on 21October 2014. Ten more players, also including Messi, have scored four times in a game, most recently ZlatanIbrahimović for Paris Saint-Germain on matchday three in 2013/14.
• Cristiano Ronaldo set a new record for a UEFA Champions League stage with nine goals in 2013/14, whiich LuizAdriano matched in 2014/15. Zlatan Ibrahimović (2013/14), Ruud van Nistelrooy (2004/05), Filippo Inzaghi andHernán Crespo (both 2002/03) managed eight.
• Barcelona have finished as group winners on 16 occasions, two more than Manchester United and Real Madrid.
• FC Bayern München hold the record for successive wins in the UEFA Champions League proper with ten, from 2April 2013 to 27 November 2013. That surpassed the previous mark of nine, set by Barcelona between 18 September2002 and 18 February 2003. RSC Anderlecht's 12 straight defeats (10 December 2003 to 23 November 2005) is alsoa competition record.
• Six teams have recorded six successive victories in a UEFA Champions League group stage: Milan (1992/93), ParisSaint-Germain (1994/95), FC Spartak Moskva (1995/96), Barcelona (2002/03, first group stage) and Real Madrid(2011/12 and 2014/15).
• Sixteen teams have gone through a UEFA Champions League group stage without picking up a single point, mostrecently Olympique de Marseille in 2013/14.
• Real Madrid scored 20 goals in the 2013/14 group stage, equalling the competition record held jointly by ManchesterUnited (1998/99) and Barcelona (2011/12). Barcelona scored 19 times in the 1999/2000 first group stage, a tallymatched by Real Madrid in 2012/13.
• Only RC Deportivo La Coruña (2004/05) and Maccabi Haifa FC (2009/10) have failed to score in a group stage.
• FC BATE Borisov conceded 24 goals in the 2014/15, a new record. The previous mark, 22, was held by GNKDinamo Zagreb (2011/12) and FC Nordsjælland (2012/13). The next highest total is 19, shared by Galatasaray AŞ(2014/15), MŠK Žilina (2010/11), Debreceni VSC (2009/10), FC Dynamo Kyiv (2007/08) and Ferencvárosi TC(1995/96).
• No team has ever gone through a UEFA Champions League group stage without conceding a goal. Milan (1992/93),Ajax (1995/96), Juventus (1996/97 and 2004/05), Chelsea (2005/06), Liverpool FC (2005/06), Villarreal (2005/06),Manchester United (2010/11) and AS Monaco FC (2014/15) all let in just one.
• Before their 3-1 win against Sporting Clube de Portugal on matchday six of the 2006/07 campaign, Spartak Moskvawent 22 games without a victory in the competition, a mark FC Steaua Bucureşti surpassed on matchday six in2013/14.
