This nationally endorsed qualification provides licenced electricians and final year apprentice electrical mechanics with the training, skills and knowledge required for the functional operation, calibration and fault finding of basic industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment.

It also provides skill sets in working with pressure, level, temperature, and flow and their application to analytical instruments for process and control.

COURSE DURATION

The course utilises a blended mode of delivery, incorporating online learning activities and face-to-face practical workshops and knowledge based assessments. Participants are expected to

complete the online learning activities within 12 months, following which they will be invited to undertake the practical requirements and knowledge based assessments.

Participants will typically complete the face-to-face practical requirements and knowledge based assessments of the instrumentation specialisation core units full-time over a period of 14 days - broken up into 4 different instances of attendance.

COURSE REQUIREMENTSApplicants must hold a current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory. All core units of competency must be achieved and a combination of elective units of competency to a total weighting of 120 points.

Fully enclosed shoes must be worn at all times in CET buildings.

Safety boots/shoes must be worn when working in the workshop.

Prior to course commencement, the student is required to review CET’s Code of Conduct which is available at www.cet.asn.au.

COURSE MATERIALSThe required textbooks for this course are included in the course cost, and will be provided to each participant at the start of the course:

• Lessons in Industrial Instrumentation, Tony R Kuphaldt – also available online for free

• Programmable Logic Controllers, 4th Edition, Frank Petruzella

PPE - Safety boots.

CERTIFICATIONGraduates will be issued with a UEE40411 Certificate IV in Electrical-Instrumentation. A Statement of Attainment will be issued for each Unit of Competency completed.

NOTE: Where a final year apprentice electrical mechanic is not in possession of a current WA Unrestricted Electrician’s Licence, this qualification will be issued once all pre-requisite units have been completed.
