The UCPath project and center are not run by any one location. Instead, it has its own governing body that is comprised of executives from all of the UC Locations.
It will function as its own organization under the guidance and review of this UCPath Steering Committee. What UCPath is NOT

State funding for the entirety of UC has been cut. In addition we are trying to avoid costly registration fee hikes to supplement.
As a part of the Working Smarter initiative, we must consider all means to reduce overhead and streamline work in an effort to find a more efficient and cost effective way to function as a provider of higher education.

An unnecessary system upgradePPS is a 30 year old COBOL based technology. There are few (and dwindling) programmers that can support it. In addition there are 11 different and unique instances, requiring support to collect and clean and analyze the data.
It is a huge financial risk to have outdated software systems requiring unsupported software and an aging programmer population to maintain it.

UCPath is one part of a whole bunch of concurrent projects at each of the UC Locations to streamline and ‘work smarter.’
