U660E, U660F, U760E, U760FDelayed or Harsh Reverse EngagementsToyotaAugust, 2014
Technical Bulletin #1632
U660E, U660F, U760E, U760FDelayed or Harsh Reverse EngagementsWhile working on a U650E, U660F, U760E or a U760F transmission, you may encounter a delayed or harsh reverse engagement. This concern may be caused by a worn reverse boost valve and sleeve. Replacing the reverse boost valve and sleeve may be needed to repair this concern.
5L40/5L50Shift Concerns & Quality After Repair or Software UpdateGeneral Motors recommends clearing shift adapts and using the following relearn procedure in these situations:
1. Transmission replace or major overhaul2. TCM replacement or reflash3. Valve body replacement
After any of the above repairs, the adaptive values have to be erased. These cells then need to be refilled to get an optimal shift quality. However, only coast downshifts will require special care as de-scribed below:
Coast Downshift Adapt Procedure:
Drive Range (D5) at normal transmission operating temperature.
1. 45 mph, light brake to a stop, about 13 seconds2. 45 mph, moderate brake to a stop, about 6 seconds3. 25 mph, coast to about 5 mph
These vehicles have normally closed solenoids. Killing the engine with the converter clutch and loss of reverse engagement will be the issues if we install the wrong solenoids.
These normally open and closed solenoids are similar in appearance.
#1634 Honda 5 Speed Kills the Engine in Drive, No Reverse
Reverse Hydraulics Normal OperationDuring normal reverse operation shift valve A and the reverse control valve are in the shifted position. The reverse control valve opens line oil to the servo valve. This strokes the servo valve into the reverse position. Shift valve A allows line oil from the servo valve to apply the 5th clutch.

Reverse Hydraulics With Normally Open Solenoids (Wrong Parts Installed)
When N.O. solenoids are installed oil is blocked from getting to the servo valve and the 5th clutch. In reverse the computer commands shift solenoid “A” ON and shift solenoid D ON. This will close the solenoids and the servo control valve and shift valve A will stay in the unshifted position.

Lockup Hydraulics Normal OperationDuring normal operation the lockup valves are in the unshifted postion. When lockup is commanded by the controller the solenoid opens and flows fluid to the lockup shift valve.

Lockup Hydraulics with a Normally Open Solenoid(Wrong Parts Installed)
The normally open solenoid flows pressure to the lockup shift valve. This blocks converter charge oil from releasing the converter clutch. The applied converter clutch kills the engine when put into gear.
Torqshift 6/6R140Clutch Apply Chart, Solenoid Firing Order, Solenoid IDThis transmission uses 2 types of solenoids, normally low and normally high. Normally low solenoidsprovide hydraulic pressure proportional to supplied current. A normally low solenoid will output verylow pressure with low (50 mA) or no current, while it will supply high pressure with high current (850mA). Normally high solenoids provide pressure inversely-proportional to supplied current. Normallyhigh solenoids provide full output of pressure with low or no current (50 mA) and very low pressurewith high current (850 mA).
Refer to the illustration below for solenoid identification.
#1636The solenoids are calibrated from the factory and are not all the same. There are (2) types of sole-noids, normally high and normally low solenoids. The solenoids can be replaced separately, but only with the same type of solenoid. The replacement solenoid band number must match the band num-ber of the solenoid being replaced. The band number is printed on the side of the solenoid and will be a 2, 3, 4 or 5.

Technical Bulletin #1637
A4CF2P0743 & P0713 Car Will Not Go Over 40 MPHIf you have a Kia Spectra that will not go over 40 MPH and codes P0743 & P0713 (other codes possi-ble) you need to check the TCM connecter in the left side kick panel. The drivers foot may have kicked the TCM connecter loose. The fix is to secure the lock down tab to the TCM connector with a zip tie.
