Yearnings for learning!
AIR AND CORRESPONDENCE HIGH SCHOOLS
ACHS will walk with you who have yearnings for learning on your
journey toward your dreams. We will strongly support you with the
specified curricula and smart learning environment which broaden
educational opportunities and step up the quality.
The Air and Correspondence High School (ACHS) was established in 1974 to meet the needs and wishes of students who couldn’t pursue a high school education for a variety of reasons. Korea Educational Development Institute (KEDI) has been supporting the efforts of ACHS, striving to provide them with opportunities to make their dreams come true with yearnings for learning.
Recently, the Cyber education system has been adopted, normalized, and enhanced through the radio broadcasting lecture system, which has been in use for over the last 30 years. ACHS is making every effort to enable students to dream of the future through the cyber education system as a stepping stone to inspire hope.
Thanks to this effort, the students can make their dreams of learning come true, experience cherished memories of high school that last a lifetime, and develop new relationships with their teachers and classmates. Currently, 14,480 students are studying in 40 high schools around the country and 220,000 alumni of ACHS are now working in various professional fields and constantly developing their careers.
Now, ACHS is trying to improve the operating system and the teaching-learning system once again to meet the needs in the rapidly changing world. First, we will complete to meet the legal and institutional conditions pertaining to the establishment of Air and Correspondence Middle Schools. Next, we will set the ground for the credit-based certification system to stabilize and settle. Along with this, we will develop a variety of specified curricula such as learner-centered basic education, professional curriculum, and personality education. We will also take the lead in another educational change and innovation through systematic changes followed by the new system and multimedia learning mediums such as smartphones.
As a ‘dreamkeeper’ for everyone who has strong desires to learn, ACHS will try its hardest to help students to make their dreams and wishes come true by broadening opportunities for learning and enhancing the educational quality. We kindly ask you to show us the constant attention and support in the future, as well.
Thank you.
President, Korea Educational Development Institute

experiences outside of school and accept it as completion of a certain course or credits
(the number of hours) for the curriculum.
The purpose we have adopted the credit-based certification system is to increase
students’ motivation and interest in learning, to reduce the burden of learning, and to
give opportunities for various job-seeking activities by regarding many kinds of
students’ learning experiences as credits to complete.
※ The bracket passage is 『Credits』 * means 『Choose one subject between the two』
The organization and the criteria of credit distribution in ACHS apply to the
curricula in regular high schools. Students must complete more than 162 credits.
