TYPOGRAPHY Poster Design AP 2-D Design Breadth Project: Illustrator For this assignment, you will be using TEXT as a design element instead of representative language: they will no longer be letters and words that are meant to be read. You will also use shape and color to help aid in the cohesiveness and strength of your composition. Focus: Capture a sense of asymmetry, color, and pattern in a poster by repeating certain fonts, colors, and shapes, to collectively work together in a composition. Inspiration/Planning: 1. Composition: Decide on the composition of this piece by selecting an artist as a point of inspiration. Describe in your journal what about their work will inspire the project you do, include images. 2. Color Scheme: Pre-plan what color scheme you will use: monochromatic, complement, split complement, analogous, primary, secondary, CMYK, neutral, etc. 3. Pattern: How are you going to create a sense of pattern? (shapes, letters, etc…) 4. FONT: Which font will you use? How will you alter the fonts? (paragraph palette) Download several options and install them into the computer font book. Artistic Integrity: You must create this entire poster by hand.
