Goatskin and Sheepskin suede are generally the most soft and supple leathers which are why tanners classify them as Grade One animal hide.  These leathers are known for their soft and buttery feel and are generally much more aesthetically appealing than other animal hides which makes them pricier and more desirable. The aesthetic appeal and luxurious feel of goatskin and sheepskin suede make them ideal for the manufacture of leather pants and other apparel for women

Horsehide and cowhide are by far the most hardy and durable leather types. This quality generally appeals to a male customer base which is why cowhide leather jackets are very popular amongst men.
