She says since her return she experienceda new zeal for life and new enthusiasm forher work with the CEF. Her work in the Kalk-fontein community teaching children God’sword lies close to her heart.
In addition to her work with children inKalkfontein, she also devotes her time to theGood News Club, run by the Kuils RiverChristian Fellowship Assemblies of God,school ministries and creche ministries.
“What I do in a school ministry is to startpraying with the children, teach them theword and play Bible games with them, for meto see if they understood the message.” Herpassion was and still is, to work with child-ren. “I believe God has called me to do this.”
There is a need, she says to train more peo-ple in children’s ministry and Cirsten can becontacted to train people interested in thefield. Criteria she says for those interestedare: “They must serve God, must have a pas-sion to work with children and must have away of speaking to children.”
For her, the work for which she receivesno financial stipend is as rewarding as ever.People can contact her for ministry opportu-nities, where she can come out and offer herservices to childcare facilities, or schools.
She thanked Kobus Viljoen director fromCEF, Pastor Robin C Botes from the Kuils Ri-ver Christian Fellowship Assemblies of Godand her mother Ronell, and family for theirendless support.
“My question to those out there is this, ti-me is running out, what will you do with re-maining time, because so many boys andgirls are lost?”

gehoor – waaraan skryf jy dittoe?“Ek is baie, baie dankbaar virmy
gehoor.
my foute met integriteit maak, eknie my gehoor sal verloor nie.”3. Hoe voel dit as jy voor ’n ge-
Waar kom jou liefde
vir Afrikaans vandaan?En om daarby aan te las, praat jy Engels of Afri-kaans met Christop-her…of het jy die ont-moontlike reggekryom ’nEngelssprekende Suid-Afrikaner te verander naAfrikaans?“Van my ouers. My ma
liefde vir Afrikaans was my onge-looflike onderwysers. Op Jan vanRiebeeck was mnr. Henning Sny-man en mnr. O.E. Driesse my Afri-kaansonderwysers. ’nMenskonnievir meer vra nie. Ek was in graad10 toe mnr.
Endandie vraagwat jy
Dit hang ook afvan waar my kop is op ’n ge-gewe tydwatter liedjie ek soubeskou as my gunstelinglied-jie.
. Kaartjies vir die konsert wisselvan R110 tot R160. Dit is beskikbaarby www.cultivaria.com of by 021872 9754.Konsertgangers word aangeraai

Is it your house? Your car? Your pension fund oryour share portfolio? It’s none of these really.Your most valuable asset is you and your ability to earn an income during your working career. But have you ever stopped to think about what would happen if you suddenly lost your abilityto earn an income, and you could no longer work because you were disabled, whether it wastemporary or permanent? How would you pay your bond, school fees, groceries, car instalments? How would you maintain your lifestyle if your income was reduced or stopped completely?
How can youprotect your income? Many South Africans protect their families and their
assets with life cover, but don’t protect themselves
and their lifestyles against cancer or a heart attack.
But with GREENLIGHT Disability Cover from
Old Mutual, we make sure that your life continues
and your income is secured. Imagine for example
how much it would help if you were paid out a lump
sum if you fractured your arm and couldn’t work?
Our philosophy is to take care of the risks so that you
can continue to ‘celebrate life’. Life is precious, so
protect your family and your most valuable asset –
YOU!

You can play your part for peacein the community – by running!
That is the call coming fromBish-op Lavis Primary, one of the oldestschools in the area, who will beputting their plan into action witha Peace Run on Saturday 27 Octo-ber.
Principal Steven Less, pointedout that in two years’ time they willbe celebrating their 60th anniversa-ry and that this will be the start ofinitiatives at the school to celebratethe rich legacy of the school in thearea.
“Many people do not realise it butthis school has produced someprominent members of society inits history ranging from business-men, political leaders, educators, aswell as doctors, dentists and arti-sans over the years,” he said.
“In recent years that positivespirit in the community has beendamaged by the tide of crime, gang-sterism and drug abuse, which inturn affected the children of the ar-ea.
“We feel that the time has cometo make the community aware ofthe legacy of positivity that camefrom this school and how every-body has a part to play in restoringthat to the community.”
The school in partnership withsport trainer, Brian Daniels, haslaunched an initiative in the com-munity of Bishop Lavis and sur-roundings to address the challengesthat youth are facing with violence, gangsterism and substance abuse.
KervinBosman fromthe school is
the project administrator andpointed out that this initiativeseeks to invite all relevant stake-holders from all spheres in busi-ness, religious, educational and lo-cal government to partner withthem.
“With this event, which will be arun/walk over an 8 km and 5 km
route, through the streets of BishopLavis, we want the community tocome together to show that theywant to play their part in fightingcrime and gangsterism that threat-ens the peace in all our neighbour-hoods.
“With every stepwewant tomovecloser to peace and say to our youth
that violence is not the answer andthat there is a better way to succeedin life.
“Sports is a powerful tool andtherefore we decided that withstreet running more can be in-volved. This is an event by the com-munity for the community and wewant to ensure that it takes place in
a spirit of fun with all in the familyinvolved.”
The school wants to extend an in-vitation to businesses, andmost im-portantly former learners, to offertheir help for the event.

Durbanville/Bellvillehetoordietweede hekkie gestruikel by dienasionale klubrugby-kampioen-skapsbyeenkoms in Rustenburg.
In Maandag se kwarteindstryd is
Die program (tuisspan eerste)is: Belhart t UK, Tygerberg t Villa-ger, NNK t Collegians, Bellville tBrackenfell, Hands & Heart t Good-wood, Pniël Villagers t Kuilsrivier.

Riverside Rangers continued withtheir good start to their league cam-paign when theymoved into top po-sition on the Northern SurburbsFootball Assocation Super leaguetable after defeating Matroosfon-tein 4-0 at Avonwood Park on Sun-day.Darryll Jacobs (2), Glayton Julies
and Bruce Louw netted for thehome team.
Riverside Rangers are leadingthe log with 56 points, while Trini-tarians have 55 points in the secondposition. The team fromAvonwood started
brightly and looked comfortable onthe ball, dominating the opening ex-changes with some neat passing. But, despite an abundance of pos-
session they failed to capitalise onnumerous goal-scoring opportuni-ties as the visitors fought well tocontain their host.
Matroosfontein’s commitmentfrom the first whistle was com-mendable as they pressured River-side Rangers all over the park re-stricting their play, while attackingon the counter with pace. The home defencewas solid all af-
ternoon and keeper Joas Jacobswas a virtual spectator in the sec-ond-half as the dangerous Matroos-fontein strikers were hardly givena sniff at at goal from Rangers’ de-fenders.
Rangers are still on form
– (Sarel Burger)
