The fire, which gutted three brick homes and some iron and wooden structures, broke out early Friday morning. Joseph Adams, a community worker, said a total of eight wood and iron structures burned down along with the houses. Liezl Moodie, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town’s fire and rescue services, said firemen responded to the incident at 09:58. The response comprised three fire engines including two water tankers and one rescue vehicle. Resources were dispatched from the Bel- har, Mfuleni, Khayelitsha, Mitchell’s Plain and Goodwood fire stations, Moodie said. “On arrival in Vogelvlei Main Road where the incident occurred it was established that the fire damaged three houses,” Moodie said. No injuries were reported. “A structural engineer was requested, however, the cause of the fire is undeter- mined at this stage,” Moodie added. Adams said building material had been supplied by the City’s disaster risk manage- ment to the displaced families with which they could erect new shelters. Firefighters had to battle a blaze that destroyed three homes in Wesbank on Friday last week. No injuries were reported. Mfuleni police are requesting informa- tion from the public that might help them with the investigation into an abandoned newborn baby boy.
Wakefield sê die afgelope jaar was uiters

@richardjohn_rj
