d e ar PAD Rf,
Afw montLa ago youalked about appropri.ate drasfor Mass. Whntabout approprinte dras for brida and brilamaids at clwrch weddings?
Some f tfu dresses art so reaealing you'd never knout tltey wergetttltg married in a church. Are there ruks about this?
You make a very good point. Individual dioceses or parishes
might have guidelines, but the universal Church doesn't, and
sandards of modesty vary. One would presume that peoplegetting married in a church, or even just attending Mass, would understand proper decorurn.
By the time the bridal party is entering the church, it's toolate for the priest to do anything about the gowns, although Ihave heard of a priest who gave the bride a handkerchief tocover herself
Parishes should have guidelines that cover dress for allmembers of the bridal party and for photography, music, andparticipation in the Eucharist.
These guidelines should be given to the couple when theyprepare for the sacrament to avoid embarrassing situations inthe vestibule right before the wedding.
Ask your pastor if your archdiocese or parish has suchguidelines. If it doesn't, offer to help draw them up.
