As your LTG, I promise that I will not only fulfill my duties but go above and beyond to make sure that you will have an unforgettable KIWIN’S experience. My goals for this year can be described in three words: self-sufficiency, expansion, and interconnectedness. I want Turquoise Division to be strong and independent, without having to rely on any club in Turquoise. As for expansion, I hope to spread the KIWIN’S spirit and love throughout Ventura County by chartering at least one school. And finally, as for interconnectedness, I believe that KIWIN’S is all about the people you meet and the friendships that are formed. As a result, I want to make sure that every member in Turquoise feels included no matter how far we live from each other, how old we are, or what school we go to. Self- sufficiency. Expansion. Interconnectedness. That is what I want for Turquoise and that is what we will achieve. I look forward to getting to know you on a more intimate level and I look forward to the year ahead of us! Love, Jessica Tran

Hello Turquoise!
I cannot believe that my term as your Lieutenant Governor is officially over. Being your LTG was one of the best experiences of my life. The laughs, the love, the memories, have changed my life in ways that I never thought was possible. When I first decided to run for LTG, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I hope that you all continue to enjoy, love, and be a part of KIWIN'S because there is no other organization like it. There is no other club where you can meet friends from faraway places, celebrate service at Knott's Berry Farm and at a Hotel for three days, and change the world all at the same time. I just want to thank you all for your hard work, your dedication to the community, and for your constant support and love for me. Now as my term has passed, I ask for you all to pass on your love and support to your new LTG Jessica Tran. Jessica is one of the most hardworking, loving, and dedicated individuals that I have ever met in my life. You all are extremely lucky to have her has your new LTG. Support her. Love her. Appreciate her. Thank you Turquoise for the amazing year. I seriously will remember my term for the rest of my life. I LOVE YOU TURQUOISE!
Love always, Jackie Palma

KIWIN’S is an amazing organization with amazing events, amazing people, and amazing service. And when these amazing people get together at an amazing event in honor of amazing service, something amazing happens: DCON!
2012 DCON was definitely a huge success. Over the course of three days divisions from all over the CAL-NEV-HA KIWIN’S district came and shared in a phenomenal experience;; they danced, they bonded, they showed off their talent, they attended inspirational workshops, and most importantly, they were honored for their service.
District board elections were held at DCON. After a series of caucuses, KIWIN’S said goodbye to this year’s district board members and welcomed the 2012-2013 district board. Among them was our very own Megan McKnelly from Camarillo KIWIN’S who will be the 2012-2013 District Secretary.
“DCON was an incredible experience,” Della Hu said, “I made so many new friends and grew closer to old ones. It was truly unforgettable.”
Yes, DCON is amazing. So why don’t you amazing Turquoise Turtles join us for next years DCON?

SAVING LIVES...ONE LAP AT A TIME!
Relay is always one of Foothill Tech's biggest community service events of the year, as Ventura is generally very activist regarding cancer prevention. According to the website, our Relay Team, made of 25 members and led by seniors Tyler Ortmann and Alex Capilla, has raised $4,849!
We have been working for months with our indispensable Kiwanis partner, and survivor, Ms. Kathy Kinnear, by advertising the event, holding garage sales, baking goods, and a whole lot of private fundraising to reach this amount and to raise the individual $100 necessary to spend the night.
The day of Relay, May 5, 2012 (Cinco de Mayo), we sold snacks, auctioned Movie and Coffee/Tea baskets, and even created a "Dora the Explorer" scavenger hunt in which people got to follow clues to Swiper, Dora, and Diego. The scavenger hunt was definitely one of the highlights of the day, as we saw small children chase after Swiper to "catch him". The entire day, of course, was also spent with members walking along the track in 1/2 hour shifts. The day was long, and most of our overnight members got about 2-3 hours of sleep during a very cold night, but there's something about staying awake with your fellow club members until 4:00 in the morning, raising money for cancer research and talking about weird dreams that kind of connects everyone. Other activities that occurred during the day was: frantic APUSH studying, hula-hooping, card tricking, Mafia-playing, human pretzel-playing, and convincing someone who was in denial that he was cold, among other crazy things. I just thank God that it wasn't raining like the year before.
This year's relay was extremely successful, and it could not have been done without our co-captains, Tyler and Alex, and our Kiwanis partner, Ms. Kinnear. I can only hope that the Relays in the coming years will be just as successful... and fun!
