can refer to an unfinished or finished time period. Use the present perfect if the time period is unfinished. Use the simple past if the time period is finished. • It’s 10:00 a.m. She’s had three cups of coffee this morning. (The

morning isn’t finished).• It’s 1:00 p.m. She had three cups of coffee this morning. (The

morning is finished).
