The Republic of Somaliland has made significant progress in building strong trading partner base and attracting foreign investment. And second, to maintaining stability in the Horn of Africa, Somaliland is open for business and poised to become the gateway for the Middle East and North African investors and businesses into Sub-Saharan Africa.

However, there are profound challenges facing Somaliland. Exclusion from international markets, lack of state investment in critical infrastructure, and sluggish economic growth. To make a significant impact, Somaliland needs bold partners, bold transactions, bold state commitments and best practices in inclusive governance and transparency.

Themed ‘mobilizing institutional capital for Infrastructure’, the 2018 SMIIF is a platform for policymakers to engage with institutional investors, fund managers and project partners. It is an opportunity to access bankable infrastructure projects, build a relationship with private and public sector partners and explore investor appetite for opportunities in Somaliland.
