Tuesday, February 25, 2014 Vocal Auditions 1. Everyone who auditions must sing something from the following list. Those auditioning for "chorus only" • Girls will sing "How Lovely to Be a Women" • Boys will sing "Honestly Sincere" 2. All studems will be considered for all roles. 3. Be realistic in choosing your audition piece. 4. There will be harmony auditions required for CALL BACKS, practice with a friend! Especially the male quartet and the MacFee Family. 5. You may or may not be asked to sing all the requirements 6. A pianist will be provided. 7. Vocal workshop on Wednesday, February 12. All songs will be reviewed at this time. When you sing for us, we want to see how you handle character acting. Remember that YOU will not be up on the stage, but your character will be. This is NOT Vocal Solo & Ensemble festival. We want to hear and see more than just a teenager with a nice voice, You must ACT for us while singing! How much can you use your FACE & EYES when you sing. Do your research. You should know the story behind the song that you shag otherwise, HOW CAN YOU EVER TELL ANYONE THE STORY behind it. ****HINT: Practice in your bathroom at home, in front of a mirror!!! Albert Peterson: (Tenor) The nervous, excitable, president oftheAlmaelouMusic Corporationwho pays more attention to his mother than to his girl friend; large role requiring goodcomic timing and pleasant singing voice for three nice solos; some dancing skill a plus.
Rose Alvarez: (Alto) Albert's secretary and want-to-be fiancÿ with a touch of sarcasm who getsfed up with waiting for him to propose; lots of featured singing and dancing.
Conrad Birdie: (Baritone) The "Elvis-style" rock star who is headed into the army; he must beable to sing well, move like a rock star, and burp!
Kim MaeAfee: (Soprano) Fifteen-year-old, self-possessed teen-aged girl, who is more maturethan her "Conrad-Crazy" girlfriends.
Mr. Harry MaeAfee: (Tenor) The fi'ustrated father of Kim and Randolph who feels his statureas a parent is continually challenged; a very funny role for a good, loud, singer.
Mrs. Doris MaeAfee: (Alto) The tireless, caring mother of Kim and Randolph who knows justhow to handle her irritable husband.
Mac Peterson: (A!to) Albert's mother, the quintessential "Mamma," who never stops parentingAlbert; one of the funniest roles in the show, with a brand new song included.
Hugo Peabody: (Tenor) Kim's devoted steady boyfriend who is jealous of Conrad Birdie.
Ursula Merlde: (Soprano) The hyper-enthusiastic teen-aged gMfriend of Kim's who leads thefans screaming for Conrad Birdie.
Teenagers: Lots of energetic male and female singer/dancers who are fans of Conrad Birdie.
Randolph MaeAfee: Kim's perky younger brother; sings one feature song.
Mayor: Mayor of Sweet Apple, Ohio; sings one feature song; also appears on the Ed SullivanShow.
Mayor's Wife: Mayor's wife, Edna; sings one feature song; also appears on the Ed SullivanShow.
Gloria Rasputin: The gum-chewing, lame-brained, dancing secretary who is Mae Peterson'schoice to replace Rosie as Albert's ftanc&
Charles E Maude: Proprietor of"Mande's Roadside Retreat"; sings a part in the male quartet.
Maude's Quartet: Customers in at Mande's who sing in the male quartet.
