K-2 Easter Hat Parade Our annual Easter hat parade will be held on Friday 12
th
April. This event is for Infants students (Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2) and it is a Mufti day. Students make an Easter hat at home and are encouraged to use some recycled materials if possible. We hope parents and friends join us on the day. Order of events: K-6 assembly in the HALL at 9:30am featuring the P&C
Easter egg raffle K-2 Easter hat parade in the COLA. It will be held
straight after the Easter egg raffle and is expected to begin at around 10.15am.
Annual P&C Easter Egg Raffle It is that time of year when the P&C are asking families to donate Easter eggs, soft toys or other Easter products to be collected and wrapped ready for our massive Easter Egg Raffle. Donations may be brought to the school office at any time. Last year there was just over 100 fantastic prizes. The Easter Raffle commences at 9:30am on Friday 12
th
April in the school hall. Raffle tickets will be going home soon so don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets so your children have lots of chances to win. Extra tickets are available at the school office! Thank you so much for your ongoing support. The children really do love this event and the K-2 children thoroughly enjoy the Easter Hat Parade.
Bus Passes & Bus Travel It is essential that all students travelling on school buses carry their pass or have cash to pay for the travel. Your assistance in reminding your child to carry their pass is appreciated. Could you please remind your child that respectful and safe bus behaviour is imperative. We have had a number of incidences of late where children have been yelling, places their hands outside the windows of the bus, distracting the driver, swearing, hitting other children and leaving their seat. Please remind your child about the importance of being safe and respectful on our buses. If you child breaks the rules they may lose their bus pass.
Parent/Teacher Interviews—Term 1, Week 9 Parent/teacher interviews are an integral part of our reporting process at MPS. This year we have decided to modify the way we conduct interviews with an aim of more open and transparent communication. Interviews will take place this term, during Week 9, from 25
th – 29
th March. This will be an opportunity for you to share 1-1 your child’s individual needs with the
teacher and for the teacher to communicate where they are at in this early stage in the year. Students will bring home a note this week regarding their class interview day. We ask parents/carers to complete the notice with your preferred times and return to the class teacher as soon as possible. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk with the teachers about your child’s academic, social and behavioural progress as the year progresses. We look forward to meeting with you. Confirmation information will be sent home with students.

NAPLAN ONLINE TESTING – Year 3 & Year 5 students This year, NAPLAN testing will be online for all tests other than Year 3 Writing tests. To help students, we have supplied an opportunity for them to practice for the tests. NAPLAN online practice tests will take place in Week 9 on Wednesday 27
th and Thursday 28
th March in classrooms.
The actual NAPLAN testing will take place in Term 2 from 14th - 24th May. For more information, please see the flyer your child will bring home this week or log on for more information on ways to help support your child. https://nap.edu.au/naplan/parent-carer-support
School Cross Country Carnival The school cross-country event will take place on Tuesday, 9th April on the Milton School Oval. This is the last week before term 1 holidays. Students from Years 3-6 aged 8, 9 and 10 years will run the 2km course at 9:45 am. Students turning 11, 12 and 13 years will run their 3km course commencing after 10:30 am. It is hoped all events can be finalised by recess. Seniors will compete after recess if necessary. It would be great to see lots of students in their house colours. Parents are welcome to attend. The first 6 place getters in each age group will compete at the District Cross Country Carnival in term 2 at Potato Point. This is definitely the last time Milton will be running in the Eurobodalla District as all South Coast districts will be changed next year. All classes have been training this term in preparation for the event. Remember: body fit, mind fit.
Milton PS ANZAC Day Service Milton Public School will be holding a special ANZAC Day ceremony on Friday 13th April starting at 10:45am in our school hall. Parents and friends are very welcome to join us. The ANZAC Assembly will conclude at approximately 11:20am. ANZAC Day March: We encourage all students and staff to march as part of Milton Public School in this year's ANZAC Day Parade on Thursday 25th April 2019. Students should assemble, in full school uniform, at the Anglican Church opposite IGA at 10:20am on the corner of Church Street and Princes Highway Milton. The march will commence at 10:30am concluding at the Milton Cenotaph. We look forward to as many students and staff marching with us as possible.
Boys Cricket Congratulations Cameron and Lachlan who made the Far South Coast cricket team. They will now trial for inclusion in the South Coast team. Good luck.
School Photo Day Thursday 4th April 2019 Have your child’s school memories captured forever. Please take time to read the relevant information on
the MSP Photography payment envelope that was sent home with your child last week and remember these helpful points:
Don’t seal envelopes inside each other. You can pay for all children in one envelope however each child needs to have their own envelope on photo day.
Sibling Photo envelopes are available from the school office upon request. Online ordering is NOT available for Sibling Photo Packs.
Please enclose correct money as no change is given. Envelopes for Sporting teams, captains etc… will be
handed out on the day. Return your individual photo envelopes on the day or
you may drop them into the secure box anytime before photo day. School staff will keep it safe until photo day when it will be handed to the class teacher to distribute to children.
Milton Show Entries Some student entries from the Milton Show have been returned to the office. Students or parents can collect at any time. Congratulations Milton kids. Your creative efforts and community spirit is a credit to you. Well done!!
Milton Show Acknowledgement Dear Mr Thompson, I am writing to let you know how appreciative and thankful I am to your wonderful students and staff. Every year at the Milton Show the pavilion is filled with exhibitions from many of your students and the posters created by your infant classes are amazing. I have been to many country shows and the Milton show pavilion is definitely a standout, probably the best! I am biased but many people have commented on how wonderful our pavilion is and it is the best one they've seen. The president of the Agricultural Societies Council attended our show and was absolutely amazed! I feel a lot of the credit should go to the school posters. I am sure they are not the ideal classroom activity to start off the new year but the infant teachers are fantastic and I hope they continue to support our show. Also the support in the Grand Parade, the Milton Public School P&C Stall, those breakfast tarts, oh my goodness!! And, a big thank you to all of the individual students who participated in the competitions. Milton Public School shows a huge amount of support for the Milton Show and it is wonderful. I would love to see Milton Public school have a whole school excursion to the show every year! I wanted to let you know that your efforts were noticed, appreciated and that the show wouldn't be the same without you. Sincerely Angela Brook Milton Show Committee Member

Did You Know? Almost 3 in every 100 children have a peanut allergy. Even trace amounts of peanut or tree nuts can trigger an allergy and kill a child. Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can cause itchy rash, throat or tongue swelling, shortness of breath, vomiting, light-headedness, low blood pressure and cardiac arrest. Tragically, Australian children have died at school from nut allergies. There are several children at Milton Public School who have a life-threatening nut allergy. Our school strongly encourages you to help minimise harm to those students by not sending nuts or nut products to school. Your assistance and understanding is very much appreciated.
