The feedback from the rig DSV, tool-pusher & Completion Supv. & Logi- stics Controller was very positive being seen as a ‘pro-active’ step in improving QHSE and making tubular handling safer and less risky at the rig, where space was at a premium. Going forward I can see no down-side in trying to improve the management of our tubulars in the industry – They are in essence the part we leave behind for 20+ years – so I believe we should invest a little to gain a great deal – all round, ever strive for improvement and safer working environment. TubeLock®

During a recently completed UBD / MPD Drilling and Comple-tion Campaign in 2013 to 2016 car-ried out in the Danish North Sea. HESS decided to use the Tube-Lock® ‘Tubing Racking System’ offered by Global Gravity to be the system of choice for use through the entire completion Campaign.

Project data:• Transport and logistic hand-

ling 4½” S13Cr% 110 tubing • More than 3 years off use

without an incident • Global Gravity Supervisor

involved on and offshore • +20 shipments over the

years

Challenges:• Minimum deck space due to

fluid treatment system• Risk of damage to the tu-

bing’s

• Mounting centralizer onshore • Measuring and tally onshore• Space optimizing and mini-

mum tubular handling Improvements:• Improved QHSE throughout

the loading / transportation, • Improved equipment prote-

ction – for chrome materials especially,

• Improved QA on compiling / checking running tallies ahead of time,

• Minimal footprint required on the rig,

• Ability to pick pipe from the racks using knuckle-boom crane to TFM

• Running tally prepared in advance

• Easy to man handle, easy to use

OUR GOALSzero accidentssafe and smart tubular handlingcost reduction on handlingIncrease efficiency in drilling operations

HSEQ and CertificationsThe TubeLock® System has been through very harsh tests to demonstrate the strength and document the certified hand-ling.

Design approvalTubeLock® has an approved Design approval from DNV ac-cording to Lifting Appliance sec. 2.22

HSEQ and certification are cornerstones in the offshore indu-stry and a constant focus in our operation. Our HSEQ and certifications are the sum of the knowledge and experience we learn from these testings.

The system was nominated for a safety prize at the ”Task Force Zero” conference in Esbjerg in March 2012.
