1.6 Prototyping the Design of a Product or Service Using
Wireframes & Storyboards (Templates)
A wireframe or storyboard will help you to design a prototype
for the brilliant tech product or service you have developed for
the Think Tank competition. This stage will help you to map out
your solution - it could be a website, an app or perhaps its a cool
video in an app or website that explains your product or
service.
You can hand draw your solution or use a computer if you have
access to one. You decide!
Remember our judging criteria:
Usefulness/benefit to society 25 pointsCreativity/innovation 25
pointsPracticality/feasibility of the product / service 20
pointsUse of media to tell the story 20 pointsCompleteness and
clarity of the product / service description 10 points
Read on for examples of how you use a wireframe and / or
storyboard!
Creating a Wireframe for a Website
A website wireframe, also known as a page schematic or screen
blueprint, is a visual guide that represents the skeletal framework
of a website and App.
To create a wireframe you can use a wireframe creation tool
which is pre-loaded with assets that you can drag and drop into a
document. Hand drawn wireframes also look very cool!
This website LovelyCharts.com is a great resource for creating
wireframes.
When you have finished creating the wireframe you can choose to
export it to a .jpg file from the dropdown menu at the top
file>export>.jpg.
Website Wireframe Example:
Creating a Wireframe for an App
An app wireframe, works in the same way as website wireframe.
Known as a screen schematic or screen blueprint, it is a visual
guide that represents the skeletal framework of an app.

Creating a Video Storyboard for a Product / Service
A Video Storyboard is a panel or series of panels of rough
sketches outlining the scene sequence and major changes of action
or plot in a production to be shot on film or video.
Video storyboards are better hand drawn than creating it
digitally.
Video Storyboard Example: Cadburys Gorilla Ad
