Rapid Service Assembly

Demo Description

Mashups are web applications that combine component services into innovative new applications. Mashups are a key element of the SPDE Service Innovation entry point. Lotus Mashups provides a graphical, browser-based tool for the rapid assembly of mashups.

The TSL has worked with SWG to develop telecom widgets for location, presence, click-to-dial, and text messaging to augment the standard widget palette.

The demonstration shows how we can create a new telecom service in less than 5 minutes

Cloud for Mobile Apps Enablement

Demo Description

OBJECTIVES: To demonstrate how CSPs can leverage cloud technology to rapidly and cost-effectively support the full life cycle of capabilities required to develop and deliver new applications to customers.

OVERVIEW: The demo shows CSPs how cloud can serve partners and customers. The development & test platform is open to partners/developers/suppliers and there is an App Store/Portal for customers.

The demo is comprised of: 1) The Development & Test Cloud platform, 2) The Application Distribution Process consisting of a partner portal & App-Store, and 3) The Service Delivery Platform (SDP) Cloud.

Solution Benefits

1) CSPs interested in driving network usage and new revenue by providing support to the developer community for application development, testing and publication.

2) CSPs wanting to attract new users and/or differentiate their offerings by hosting an App-Store/Portal for users of mobile devices both on and off their network.

CSP² - Monetizing Cloud

Demo Description The demo consists of two parts:Part One which is live as of March 2011 and

shows how an end user can order a IaaS service using a Jamcracker store front. The following use cases are shown in the live demo:

1. An end user logs into the store front and selects a IaaS service.

2. User order the service3. We can show the progress of provisioning in TSAM

and vSphere client4. End user modifies main memory and/or hard disk size

of the virtual server he ordered

Part Two is available as video showing the following use cases:

1. User requests new instance of a virtual server2. Check progress of provisioning in TSAM3. Modify virtual resources4. Monitor servers; Show a high CPU load alarm on the

machines.5. Track availability and performance of servers.

Wholesale Application Community: App store & on boarding process

Demo Description

The Communication Service Providers united to create a counterpart to app stores from Apple and Google. The initiative is the Wholesale Application Community (WAC) and aim to provide one mobile application runtime specifications for all member Telcos. All developers develop into one warehouse where a CSP may pick and choose the ones he want to have for his customers.

In the first step, a marketing oriented person of the CSP browses the WAC database. (S)He uses a portal in the operator's domain connected to the WAC warehouse and selects the apps to be on-boarded.

In a second step, an approver verifies the app has passed functional tests as well as compiles to the Telcos policies and rules.

IBM ProductsWebpshere Portal ServerWebsphere Process ServerWebsphere Commerce

Solution BenefitsAllows CSPs to add mobile apps residing in the WAC warehouse to his offer to the end customers. We emphasis that the applications are added to the overall offer of the Telco compared to a stand-alone shop with all capabilities of a full-fledged eCommerce shop

Cloud GamingDemo Description

Challenges Communication Service Providers (CSP) are facing decline in

voice revenue and have to find new services for growing their ARPU (Average Revenue Per User)

CSPs have as well the strategic imperative to identify services that will complement their broadband offering in such a way that consumer will not churn to other operators. This is even more important in mature markets where the market for new household to be equipped is limited

CSPs have started to introduce different forms of services leveraging digital content (like IP Television, Video On Demand or Music on demand) to achieve those strategic imperatives of increasing the ARPU and controlling churn.

Just like Video or Music, Game is another form of Digital Content that CSPs are starting to leverage as well. Cloud Gaming is a service by which games can be provided instantly, on-demand to consumers

• Solution Overview• A significant infrastructure (STG) opportunity that plays at

the strength of our IDataPlex product line – Capabilities to host multiple high-end powerful Graphical Processor Units (GPU) is definitely a differentiator for the IBM IDataPlex.

• A real innovation topic that opens doors to Business discussions with Line of Businesses (Consumer Business lines) Chief-Marketing-Officer (CMO) or other senior executives like Vice-President for Innovation

Partner Products G-Cluster

Solution Benefits

Provide a new revenue generating service to CSPs by selling game on demand to broadband users.

Mobile Healthcare

Demo Description

The remote healthcare patient monitoring Proof of Concept demonstrates one of the vertical markets addressed by SPDE framework and is set to prove how healthcare authorities can save money while improving patient care. The solution shows how enablers in a service provider network can be used in an enterprise application.

This solution also highlights the use of service oriented architecture to build a service delivery platform allowing re-using service enablers and foundation services in multiple composite services addressing different markets and different revenue opportunities for Communication Service Providers.

Service Exposure to Social Networks & Communities

Demo Description

Those demonstrations (SNtellink, Buddycom) demonstrates how a Communication Service Provider can benefit from the worldwide booming of the social networks and 3D Internet virtual worlds by providing additional communication services to those networks.

The application interconnects social networking sites (SNS), 3D virtual worlds and traditional Telco services (SMS, Voice, …), to extend CSP’s offer and to deliver a user-friendly experience to the final customer. The concept is to allow any user to communicate either directly by chatting to their friends logged in to another SNS, IM system or using Telco services if they are logged out: a “always reachable” capability centralized in one interface! This solution will give the Telco Companies a tremendous mean to penetrate the Social Networking Market, and generate additional revenue by selling SMS and Voice services to social networking users

Self Organizing Networks

Demo Description

Implementation of the SON Energy Saving Use case.

Based on performance counters from 2G and 3G cells the SON algorithm proposes cells that could be switched to energy saving mode and other that should compensate for those.

A business process automates the orchestration of the business rules and the SON calculations.

Business rules take into account blacklisted cells, calendar events, cell priorities and planned maintenance or outage.

The solution is based on the outcomes of a PoC ran 2011 in a live network of a German operator. IBM Products

Demo Description

This demonstration shows the integration of thesolution components to create a retentionstrategy report. This report takes into account the profitability of accounts as well as retention strategies that are based on profitability and the risk of churn. The risk of churn is derived from a set of rules that are applied to various data sources and finally tag accounts with their probability to churn. The results of social network analysis are used to to identify valuable customers.
