WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

GREETING EACH OTHER

PRELUDE “Allegro” ~Walther Lighting of the Candles

INTROIT Beethoven’s Boomwhackers

CALL TO WORSHIP L: Our hope is in you, Lord. P: Our hope comes from the good news of your presence with us always. L: Our hearts belong to you. P: May your presence bear fruit in our hearts, lives, and lifestyles. L: Let us walk our faith journeys with your wisdom and understanding! P: As each of us grow in faith, help us also grow in strength. L: Help us as we seek to lead lives worthy of you, O Lord. P: Strengthen us to endure all things with patience. L: Encourage us to joyfully give you thanks. P: For you have brought us into your kingdom! L: Let us worship God. P: Let us worship God!

*HYMN #2038 “Father, I Adore You”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Redeeming God, as we gather this morning, we bow our heads and ask you to please forgive us. Forgive us for turning away from the one true foundation of our lives. Forgive us for looking toward money, or attention, or our bodies, or what we eat and drink as our foundation, and to satisfy ourselves. Strengthen and encourage us to look only to you and your Spirit for our foundation. Continue to redeem us and give us the courage to trust in your mercy and your love. Strengthen us to resist temptation and sin and stay deeply connected to you.

(silence is observed for individual reflection and prayer)

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

L: By the grace and love of God, we are forgiven! Let us begin anew to be the people God calls us to be: instruments of God’s love in the world. Thanks be to God!

P: Thanks be to God! Alleluia!

CHOIR ANTHEM “Shout to the Lord/How Great Thou Art”

TIME WITH YOUNG CHRISTIANS

A LITANY FOR FATHER’S DAY

L: For fathers everywhere, who have given us life and love, that we may show them respect and love;

P: Holy God, hear this prayer for our fathers. L: For those who have lost their fathers, recently, or long ago; P: Holy God, grant comfort to all who still miss their dads. L: For fathers who have lost a child through death, that their faith may give them hope, and

their family and friends support and console them; P: Holy God, hear this prayer for our fathers that mourn. L: For men who may or may not have children of their own, but act like a father to someone

in need of advice, support, nurturing, and love; P: Holy God, hear this prayer of thanks for our father figures. L: For step-fathers who have assumed that role with love and joy, who have loved the

children of another as their own, and created a new family; P: Holy God, hear this prayer for faithful step-fathers. L: For adoptive fathers, who have heard the call of God to lovingly step forward for those

that need their care; P: Holy God, hear this prayer for adoptive fathers. L: For fathers who had been unable to be a source of strength, who have not responded to the

needs of their children, and have not sustained their families. For fathers who struggle with temptation, violence, or addiction. For those who do harm, and for those whom they have harmed;

P: Holy God, have mercy on absentee fathers and on fathers that struggle. L: For new fathers, full of hope. For long-time fathers, full of wisdom. For the fathers yet to

be, and fathers soon to be; P: Holy God, hear this our prayer for the fathers of your Church. L: For those that have shaped our lives without claim of family or kinship. For those who

have taught us, guided us, and molded us into servants of Christ our Lord; P: Holy God, hear this our prayer for the fathers of our faith. L: For all our beautiful, amazing fathers who have inspired, guided, joked, taught, and loved

us, we give thanks this day. P: Amen, and thank you, Father-God.
