we’re going to quickly cover some information about our partnership and what makes this area such a great place to invest. You can see that our communities cover a large area; and that our median age skews younger – in fact we are attracting more young families all the time. and we’re about to see unprecedented growth in population and in jobs. People are attracted here for a variety of reasons, including affordable land; but we have a long way to go in terms of having high value jobs for all of our residents. That’s a big part of what today is all about.

Presentation Notes
This morning we begin with a presentation about Invest North Fraser – who we are, what we’re up to, and what it means to be part of the BC Jobs Plan Pilot. The tables represent priority sectors. Our goal this morning is to identify priority projects by sector. You’ll hear about sector strengths and challenges; and through a process you’ll hear more about shortly, working with the facilitator at your tables you’ll come up with a list that will form the basis of our conversation with the Minister when he arrives mid day. We have a busy agenda so let’s get underway. Goals of the session – morning/afternoon By the end of today, we will have a short list (hopefully around five) of opportunities that the North Fraser and the provincial government will work together to advance over the coming 6 – 18 months. These opportunities will relate to bringing new or increased investment and/or removing barriers to investment in the region. We need you to assist in identifying the potential projects – you know your sectors better than anyone. We want to hear what the opportunities are. You’re seated in tables with others from your sector or those from sectors where partnerships may be successful. This is intentional. Throughout the morning, you will be working with your sector colleagues to identify all of the potential opportunities in that sector – this may result in a long list. Then we’ll get you to identify your top picks – the projects that you would like to see move forward within the parameters of this initiative. In the afternoon, we’ll take the top picks that you’ve identified and run them through a scoring exercise based on strategic criteria to assist in identifying which projects are best aligned with the intent of the initiative and the timelines we are working with.
