Troubleshooting Steps If the Tally is running at http://localhost:9000 & you are still not able to connect then follow these steps to troubleshoot this problem. How to get to know whether the tally is running in which port? Step 1- Open Tally. Step 2- http://localhost:9000 open the link in Google. Step 3 - You will be able to see the message ‘Tally ERP 9 Server is running’ 1. Try changing the port from 9000 to 5000 both in Tally and the ClearTax GST Desktop app . If this solves your problem then no need to go further. 2. If you have Windows Defender installed then please follow the next steps to allow the ClearTax GST Desktop App to connect with Tally Allow the app in the Inbound rules of Windows Defender Allow the port 9000 (or the configured port in Tally) to the Inbound rules of Windows Defender (Optional) Allow the Desktop app in the whitelist of your Antivirus “Internet Security” section. Troubleshooting Steps If the Tally is running at http://localhost:9000 & you are still not able to connect then follow these steps to troubleshoot this problem.  How to get to know whether the tally is running in which port? Step 1- Open Tally. Step 2- http://localhost:9000 open the link in Google. Step 3 - You will be able to see the message ‘Tally ERP 9 Server is running’   

 1. Try changing the port from 9000 to 5000 both in Tally and the 

ClearTax GST Desktop app. If this solves your problem then no need to go further.  

2. If you have Windows Defender installed then please follow the next steps to allow the ClearTax GST Desktop App to connect with Tally ○ Allow the app in the Inbound rules of Windows Defender ○ Allow the port 9000 (or the configured port in Tally) to the Inbound 

rules of Windows Defender ○ (Optional) Allow the Desktop app in the whitelist of your Antivirus 

“Internet Security” section. ○ Restart the computer

Step1- Type the windows defender settings from the extension

  Step 4- Click on inbound rules

  Step 5- Click on New Rule   

 Step 6 - Select the program and click on next

    Step 7- Select This Program path- Click on Browse

Step 8 - Browse the ClearTax Desktop saved location in the browser and select the Cleartax desktop application.  Example: [C:\Users\sajini.bg\AppData\Local\Programs\cleargst-desktop]  

 Step 9- Select the All programs and click on next

   Step 10- Select the Allow the connection click on next.  

  Step 11 - Click on next after selecting the domain, private and public.

  Step 12- Enter the name and description [ Example Name- Tally connector, Description- Cleartax Desktop Tally Connector ] and click on finish to complete the process.

Step 13- You can see the new rule to allow the desktop companion app through Windows Defender visible in the inbound rules
