It is my esteemed
pleasure to extend my
official introduction to
the Paradise Division of
the Caribbean Circle K
District. My name is
Alanzo Small and I am
honoured to be serving
as your District Governor
for the 2015-2016 service
year! I am pleased to
say that I have had the
pleasure of serving as a member of the Kiwanis SLP for the past 9
years. I have much experience stemming from being not only Key
Club District Governor as a past student of Jamaica College for
2010/ 2011, but also two time distinguished president of the
University College of the Caribbean Circle K.
As your District Governor for the 2015/2016 administrative
year, I expect nothing less but the best from the “sunny” division of
Paradise. The District has a lot in store this year, and as such I urge
you to keep the three tenets; service, leadership and fellowship
engraved firmly in your hearts as you strive to make it a memorable
one. With the dedication and commitment of every individual,
regardless of their position or their club status, we can accomplish
the goals we set for the 2015-2016 service year while touching the
lives of everyone we meet. Each one of you have a big role to play
in ensuring that whatever is put forward by your division is done to
the best of your abilities and of the highest quality. I trust that with
your full cooperation and support, I can expect only excellence
from the Paradise Division as governor.
I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours and I cannot
wait to see the strides you and your division will make!
Arrrrg Mateys!
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm
as I greet you, the Paradise Division as
your Lieutenant governor for the year
2015-2016. I enter my tenure with high
hopes and unwavering spirit and it is my
wish to unite, fortify and restart that
blazing majestic fire that was the
Paradise Division and thus by extension
the Caribbean District of Circle K
International.
My name is Roshane Robinson,
Distinguished Vice-President of the UWI
Mona CKI, Jamaica 2014-2015.
I am a 9 year member of the Kiwanis family movement who has at
the Key club level served or acted in every single club position. I
was also given the honour in my final year of high school to
become a part of Key club Jamaica District as the District’s
Webmaster where I designed the now Official Jamaica District pin.
At the CKI level I have served as only chairperson and vice-
president, however for the 2013-2014 year I was awarded
Caribbean District Circle Ker of the year.
I am an enthusiastic, vibrant and creative mind, who only works
towards goals that are achievable. I believe in this district and I
believe in every single one of you in the division of paradise. One
of the first things on my agenda is to set up a divisional committee
comprised of individuals from all over the Caribbean who will be
my co captains, this committee will be responsible for the effective
functioning of the Paradise Division. I encourage everyone to not
wait till a District Board member contact you but make the contact
with us, I for one am eager to hear from every single member in my
division.
I also encourage each and every one of you to participate to the
fullest in all district and divisional events, Jamaica is not the
Caribbean, The Caribbean is the melting pot of great islands,
Aruba, Barbados, Bahamas, Antigua, Trinidad, Dominica, etc. find
out how you can participate in all events. Start forming and
training your teams for Kiwanis Circle K Caribbean District’s “THE
CHALLENGE”. Start saving for Officers Training Conference in the
summer, for District Leadership Conference in the winter and for
District Convention in spring.
We are the Pirates of the Caribbean, sailing on the Seas of Service
to Horizons unknown.
The Kiwanis Caribbean District of Circle K International held
its Annual DCON on March 21 & 22 at the Tropics View Hotel
in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica.
The weekend was geared at educating and training the
incoming boards and awarding clubs for their outstanding
works done throughout the year.
The morning of the 21st was bright, as it started off with the
registration of all the arriving members from the various clubs
all over the Caribbean, dressed in business wear they were
ready for their day of intense training and parliamentary
procedures, after all the work was the play as night fell so
did the time for the Governor’s ball and awards ceremony
after which the attendees danced their night away.
Sunday was filled with intensity and nervousness as the
today was the day the new district board was to be elected
and announced.
The following members were installed as the new board for
the 2015-2016 Administrative year.

On April 17th the District Board of the Kiwanis Circle K of the
Caribbean District embarked on their weekend of intense training
to ensure that each member is equipped with the knowledge and
proper approval to start off their year, areas where addressed
were; Expectations, Learning objectives, time management,
conflict management, goals setting, Kiwanis family relations.. The
officers also went through details of the district to assets and plan
events for the year. Budgets were done, Divisional plans were
presented, dates were set and a stern talking to was given, The
District board was also given the opportunity to speak to past
district board members and DAs. However, the weekend was not
all work as the trainees embarked on daily fellowships before bed
and ended the weekend with a healthy game of football.
CLUB GOALS: It is recommended that all clubs prepare goals
either for the entire year or per quarter. This can be submitted to
the Kiwanis and Faculty advisor, also may be shared with the
District.
BUDGETS: It is recommended that each club do a budget for
every event be it be fundraisers or projects, this budget should be
shared with the club’s Kiwanis and faculty advisor to ensure
transparency with school and sponsoring Kiwanis club.
KNOW YOUR SCHOOL STRUCTURE: Ensure that you know your
school’s rules, this may come in handy especially when it comes to
promoting the club, a club should ensure that it uses all means of
creativity to get new members, school rules may however affect
this and so it’s great to know the dos and don’ts. Also for schools
with student representative bodies whether it be a Guild, Student
Council, and Student Union ensure that you find out if your school
makes provisions for clubs and societies.
PROXY ATTENDANCE: JAMAICA IS NOT THE CARIBBEAN, The
Caribbean District encompasses clubs from Antigua, Aruba,
Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Trinidad and Jamaica. If a district
/ divisional event is being held in any country each club is
expected to have a representative, if he/ she/ they cannot
attend the event physical a club may request proxy attendance,
which is attendance via the internet. Special provisions are now
being put in place to allow this all a club needs to do is request it
through their Lt.G or any other District Board Member.
