Operations

The Gurgaon plant spread over 300 acres Three fully integrated manufacturing plants Installed capacity of 350,000 vehicles annually

productivity Improvements enabled manufacture 900,000 vehicles

annually.

The entire facility is equipped with more than 150 robots, of which 71 have been developed in-house.

The Gurgaon facilities also manufacture 240,000 K-Series engines annually.

Extensions

•The Manesar  manufacturing plant was inaugurated in February 2007. •Spread over 600 acres.

•Initially it had a production capacity of 100,000 vehicles annually. •It was increased to 300,000 vehicles annually in October 2008. •The production capacity was further increased by 250,000 vehicles taking total production capacity to 550,000 vehicles annually.

Network

•1100 Dealerships across 700 towns and cities

•3000 Service Stations across 1,400 towns and cities 

•30 Express Service Stations on 30 National highways across 1,314 cities in India.Service is a major revenue generator of the company.Most of the service stations are managed on franchise basis, where Maruti Suzuki trains the local staff. Other automobile companies have not been able to match this benchmark set by Maruti Suzuki.

When the road got tough

On July 18, 2012 violence broke out @ Manesar

The workers who surfaced grudge against the management set ablaze the plant which cost MICL dearly and a valuable life

Biggest Union V/s Management clash in recent times.

• Monthly conveyance allowance Rs.10000/-

• Laundry allowance Rs.3000/- p.m.

Management Responds…

•Announced lockout under Industrial Dispute Act, 1947• Suspended the workers involved in the violence•Contract laborers were awarded permanent status• Salary of all the other workers during the violence period was seized

Memorandum Of Understanding

The analysts estimated a loss of Rs.75 crore per day and substantial loss in market share

Thereon the Mr. Nakanishi appealed the Haryana state government to take legislative steps to stop the violence

Ultimately the management agreed to discontinue the practise of hiring contract workers, awarding permanent status to existing contract based workers

The plant operations have been resumed at 90% of its original capacity

Thereby giving way to a daily rolling out of 150 units
