He has been working for the C alifornia Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for the past five years performing design, construction administration, and project management. Joshua is currently the Assistant Project Manager for the I-15 Express Lanes projects. Gerard Chadergian graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He has his Graduate Certificate in Transportation Management from San Jose State University. He has been working for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for the past fourteen years as a Designer, Office Engineer, I nspector, Assistant Resident Engineer, Design Manager, and Project Manager. Gerard is currently the Design Manager/Project Manager for the I-15 Express Lanes projects and the SR-15 Mid City BRT and bike path projects. Caltrans recently opened the last segment of the I-15 Express Lanes. This four-lane freeway within a freeway, built in the median of I-15, extends from SR-163 to SR-78. Featuring a moveable barrier, direct access ramps (DARs), and intermediate access points, it is one of the most versatile highways in the State. Travel times within the project limits have been cut in half, and future projects, including a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service with stations along and even within the freeway, will further increase the system’s efficiency.
