Bulgaria is famous for its vast plantations of rose fields and its achievement in being the world’s largest rose oil producer. The festival showcases the history and tradition of rose growing and rose oil production in the region. The culture, food and music of Bulgaria is celebrated during the festival that is visited by people from all over the world. The ancient city of Plovdiv is the base of the tour. Plovdiv will be European Capital of Culture 2019. Explore the city before crowds of people find this undiscovered gem of a city. Discover it all on this unforgettable tour of Bulgaria!

Day 1 | Wednesday May 30 2018Sofia - Plovdiv

Arrival to Airport. Group transfer to Plovdiv. Check-in to 3-star hotel in Plovdiv.

Day 2 | Thursday May 31 2018Plovdiv - Villa Yustina - Plovdiv

Today, we visit the charming Villa Yustina located not too far from Plovdiv. Tour of the vineyards and winery. Tasting of wines paired with a lunch in the tasting rom. Return to Plovdiv. Guided walking tour of Plovdiv and Old Plovdiv. Free evening to further discover Plovdiv at your own pace, and enjoy dinner in one of Plovdiv’s many restaurants.

Day 3 | Friday June 1 2018

Plovdiv - Zagreus - Bachkovo - Plovdiv

Visit to the 100% organic Zagreus Winery located close to Plovdiv. Tour of the estate and tasting of 5 wines. The king of this winery is the local grape called Mavrud. During the tasting, we will taste a number of Mabrud wines. Enroute to the Bachkovo monastery, we enjoy lunch in a restaurant. We spend some time exploring the second largest monastery in Bulgaria - The Bachkovo Monastery. Upon our return to Plovdiv, we enjoy a tasting at an urban winery/local enoteca. Free evening.

Day 4 | Saturday June 2 2018Plovdiv - Kazanlak - Plovdiv

Early departure from hotel at 8 am. Arrival to the Rose Harvest Festival (2h) in the Kazanlak area. Free time at the rose fields to pick roses, watch traditional dancing, take pictures and sample Bulgarian foods. We continue to the town of Kazanlak for lunch. After lunch, take some time in Kazanlak to enjoy the many activities. On the main square, the international folklore festival will be taking place and you will have the opportunity to see unique folklore dances and national costumes from the Balkan region. The small streets in and around the centre of Kazanlak are full with street vendors selling local products. At the Iskra Theatre, a festival for Bulgarian rosé wine will be taking place. Spend some time trying the best Bulgarian rosé. In the afternoon, we return to Plovdiv after a fun day in Kazanlak.

Day 5 | Sunday June 3 2018Plovdiv - Sofia (Airport)

Breakfast. Check-out. Free morning to explore Plovdiv. Group transfer to Sofia Airport (2h). Arrival at Sofia Airport 2 hours before departure.
