But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I
shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:14
Well this summer has been a busy blast. We have been going from place to place with
our church children and youth and as a family. One thing I have noticed is that with most of the places we have gone, water has been involved. Whether we have traveled to the beach with our family circle, braved the Trippo Waterslide with the youth and children, had our water day with the children, skied at the lake as Laurie tried her hand at waterskiing again, or relaxed with my parents at their swimming pool, we have stayed wet.
Water is such a precious thing. It should be something that we do not take for granted. It is something that all of us need to survive, drinking water and “living water”. A lack of living water can cause symptoms of “spiritual deadness.” If you’re feeling spiritually dead, God offers hope to restore your supply channels to his living water. The source of living water is God’s Spirit, symbolized in the Bible by a river. John wrote, “Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations” Revelation 22:1-2 NASB.
Our spirits are like streams branching off God’s river. His river keeps life flowing through our spiritual veins and washes away impurities. His water satisfies us in a special way. Drinking the living water brings contentment - John 4:14. It nourishes and heals us, enabling us to be fruitful for God. It causes new springs of living water to well up in us, flowing into the lives of people around us. Jesus said, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” John 7:38.

GRACIE'S COOKING CORNER (Grace Eckstorm)
MANGO AND RASPBERRY CRUNCH
Butter a 11"x7"baking pan
preheat oven to 350 degrees
3 fresh mangoes, cut into cubes; sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice; set aside.
1-1/2 cups fresh raspberries; set aside.
CRUMB MIXTURE
2/3 cup finely chopped walnuts or your favorite nut
1-1/2 sticks unsalted butter, cold cut into small pieces
1/3 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
Combine all crumb ingredients set aside. Mix mangoes with 3 tablespoons sugar and 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour.
Gently stir in raspberries. Put the mixture into prepared pan and cover with crumbs.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. I serve it with ice cream or whipped topping. Delicious summer dessert.
YOU CAN USE PEACHES INSTEAD OF THE MANGOES, BUT THEY ARE DELICIOUS.
KITCHEN TIP:
If I'm serving ice cream or whipped topping I scoop it out ahead of time and put it on a plate and place it back in the
freezer; so all I have to do is top my dessert with ice cream or topping when ready to serve. Less of a mess and more
time I can have with my guests.
VBS 2015 G-Force
I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone that stepped up to the plate and helped make this year’s Vacation
Bible School so awesome. It could not have been successful without each and every one of the kitchen staff, the clean-
up crew, the group leaders, the craft, music, recreation, bible story and science leaders, the floaters, the nursery work-
ers, the photographers, the youth, the parents, the grandparents and the CHILDREN!!!
While the navigators heard stories of Moses, Solomon, Bartimaeus, and Jesus, they learned how to MOVE, ACT,
CARE, FOLLOW and SHARE. The youth also had a busy week as they demonstrated caring for others. After preparing
potted plants they took them around the neighborhood letting various neighbors know Trinity cares about them. The
group saved one plant for a person special to Trinity. They went and visited George Sharp where they wished him well
in his recovery and let him know that he is missed at Trinity. On the way to visit George, the group made a pit stop
and “flocked” my yard. They finished out the week by baking chocolate chip cookies as a thank you to the adult volun-
teers.
I would say that 63 children, 14 youth, 50 adult volunteers, 150 items (PB & J) collected for Helping Hand and ASAP
as well as $350 donated for Salkehatchie Summer Service-Penn Center Camp equals a huge success!!!
Thank you again for everything you did to help the children become better Disciples of Christ.
Cathy

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS THE CHECKS WILL BE EVERY 2ND SUNDAY OF THE MONTH. LOCATION: HALLWAY BY THE BACK DOOR TIME: 9:45 AM TO 10:45 AM FUTURE DATES ARE: AUG 9, SEPT. 6, OCT. 11, NOV 8, & DEC 13
Mission News: Frank Autry
The ASAP committee would like to thank Alice Brooks
for the generous donation that allowed us to purchase
a new freezer. This freezer will allow us to buy more
meat when it is on sale. This allows us to provide more
for the veterans and still keep our costs as low as
possible. We would also like to thank Jim Kilgore for
the generous donation that allowed us to purchase
another metal cart. We use these carts for several
purposes, especially as they choose their food and to
roll the groceries out to the veteran’s cars. They got
too heavy for us to carry. You are all invited to stop
by the church on the last Saturday of any month (8:30
-10:30) to see what ASAP is all about.
North Strand Helping Hand (NSHH) – We are con-
tinuing to list one item a month that we will ask you to
buy when you go to the store and drop off at the
church for NSHH. During August we are again asking
that you bring in Peanut Butter and Jelly. Some we will
use for ASAP and the rest will be delivered to NSHH.
North Strand Housing Shelter (NSHS) – NSHS has
close to 20 people staying with them at this time.
They need some volunteers. Drivers are needed. It is
for 1 ½ - 2 hours once a week. Of course you can volun-
teer for more if you want. No special license is re-
quired. Also they need people to answer the phone.
You do this from your own home. They will teach you
what to say and do. If you are willing to help, contact
Dana Black at 843-756-9488 or see Frank Autry for
more information.
Last month we stated that we needed an electric
stove. The day after the newsletter went out one was
donated. What a giving Church we are part of.
North Strand Helping Hand back to school
supplies. During the first two weeks of August
we will be collecting school supplies - Back Packs,
paper, pencils, spiral notebooks, crayons and
markers – for the children of families being
helped by NSHH. We would like to have the
items before August 14th so they can be included
in the Blessing of the Back Packs that will be
held on Sunday the 16th.
Thank you for all that YOU do to support the
mission projects of our Church.
If you have any questions about what your
Missions Committee is doing or would like to help,
please see Frank Autry (843-685-1190). You are
also welcome to attend a committee meeting on
the third Monday of each month at 9:00am in
the A.G. Greene building.

This month from the Music Department we thought we might share just some “funny stuff” to
bring some humor to these “hot summer days”.
1. Due to the Rector’s illness, Wednesday’s healing services will be discontinued until further notice. 2. Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight at Calvary Methodist. Come hear
Bertha Belch all the way from Africa. 3. The Rev. Merriwether spoke briefly, much to the delight of the audience. 4. On a church bulletin during the minister’s illness: GOD IS GOOD; Dr. Hargreaves is better. 5. Applications are now being accepted for 2 year-old nursery workers. 6. The pastor will preach his farewell message, after which the choir will sing, “Break Forth Into Joy.” 7. If you would like to make a donation, fill out a form, enclose a check, and drip in the collection bas-
ket. 8. Next Sunday Mrs. Vinson will be soloist for the morning service. The pastor will then speak on “It’s a
Terrible Experience.” 9. Don’t miss this Saturday’s exhibit by Christian Martian Arts. 10. We are grateful for the help of those who cleaned up the grounds around the church building and
the rector. 11. A worm welcome to all who have come today. 12. Barbara remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for more transfusions. She is also having
trouble sleeping and requests tapes of Pastor Nelson’s sermons. 13. During the absence of our pastor, we enjoyed the rare privilege of hearing a good sermon when J.F.
Stubbs supplied our pulpit. 14. Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship
that began in their school days. 15. The ushers will come forward and take our ties and offerings. 16. The rosebud on the altar this morning is to announce the birth of David Alan Belzer, the sin of Rev-
erend and Mrs. Julius Belzer. 17. The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare’s Hamlet in the church basement on Friday at 7
p.m. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy. 18. Don’t let worry kill you off – let the church help. Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person(s) you want remembered. Hope that you enjoyed at least some of these!

ONE MILLION HOURS OF SERVICE
Initiative is sponsored by the Children in Poverty Task Force of the SC
United Methodist Conference and continues from the One Million
Book Initiative of last summer.
United Methodists in ministry with or for children—whether tutor-
ing, on a school board, serving as a reading partner and more—are
being asked to log their hours on a new website launched by the con-
ference and overseen by the Children in Poverty Task Force. The hours
can be past, present and future (from Annual Conference last June
2014 through now and beyond).
The 1 Million Hours of Service initiative takes last year’s Million
Book Effort service project a step further. While the Million Book Ef-
fort focused on collecting and then donating books to children in need,
the 1 Million Hours of Service initiative focuses on working with the
children themselves, whether directly or indirectly.
After all, through the New Testament, Jesus invites people to make
caring for people a priority, and Methodists historically have a tradi-
tion of caring for the vulnerable, including the poor, widows and or-
phans. A compliment to a child who is lonely, a smile to a child who is
afraid, telling a child you love him is like touching the hand of God.
Volunteering time, energy, love and joy is worth everything!
“My favorite picture of Jesus is where he is surrounded by children—
children who are the greatest gift from God,” Thompson said. “To be
in ministry with children is to be in ministry with God. To log your

A Note from our new Director of Christian Education
Hello Trinity! As the Director of Christian Education, my goal is to help the church facilitate great programs and activi-
ties that push us into deeper relationships with Christ, expand our understanding of the gospel, and also
serve as incredible fellowship opportunities. I love that our church works hard to provide programs for
everyone in our community, all the way from infants up to our vibrant senior groups.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in a small town in southern West Virginia. Without any big
cities around, my brother and I learned to love the outdoors. If I wasn't playing a sport, I was in a river or
hanging off a rock wall on the side of a mountain. I went to college in East Tennessee at Johnson Bible
College (now Johnson University). I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Church Leadership and a second
major in Bible.
My best friend is my incredible wife Courtney. She is from the Syracuse New York area, but since moving
south, does not miss the snow. She works with a beach and golf resort in the area and teaches in-home
piano for children. We like playing music together, reclaiming old furniture, playing Putt-Putt and of course
spending time on the beach.
We are both exited to be a part of the community here, and hope that if we haven't met you and your
family yet, we will soon.
Charles Pruett
Do you enjoy playing Bridge? We are looking at the possi-
bility of starting a Bridge group here at Trinity. This is both
a great fellowship opportunity for our members as well a
possible outreach into our community. In order to get it
going we need one or two members that would like to
possibly help lead the group.
If this sounds like an area you would like to serve or if you
know someone that might want to contact Charles at the
church office.
The Evangelism and Congregational Care Team Reaching Out to Others

prophet, and the beast.
Children of the Day is a Beth Moore Bible study of 1 and 2 Thessalonians. You'll learn how to let go of past
mistakes and discover your circumstances are not coincidental; God's timing is impeccable! Whether you're fac-
ing family crises, medical diagnoses, relationship troubles, doubts, or fears, you'll come away encouraged that
even though it may not feel that way, you are exactly where Christ wants you to be!
Invitation to Genesis explores the interaction between God and very human people - pride, family relationships,
conflict and journey all showcase the best known stories of Creation, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Rebekah
and Joseph.
You'll Get Through This: Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times, Max Lucado encourages readers through
sharing the Biblical story of Joseph. Stripped of his identity, thrown into a pit and sold as a slave, his was a
story of defeat and challenges, but as time passed God worked through his circumstances to bring redemption
and reconciliation. And although it may seem hard to believe, you will get through it too.
