TREASURER’S REPORT (October 2018)
Music Ministry News Christmas time is here, happiness and cheer.
Fun for all that children call their favorite time of year.
Snowflakes in the air, carols everywhere.
Olden times and ancient rhymes of love and dreams to share. Sleigh-bells in the air, beauty everywhere.
Yuletide by the fireside, and joyful memories there.
Christmas time is here, we'll be drawing near.
Oh, that we could always see such spirit through the year. I love Christmas and especially love “Charlie Brown Christmas”. When they sing this song, I can't help but
sing along. (The last line is a wonderful thought.) When Linus tells them all what Christmas is really about, I always
think that it would be a much better world if we listened to what he says. If we could only keep Christ and the Spirit of
Christmas in our hearts all the time.
The music department is hard at work getting everything ready. There will be special music throughout the
season. The handbells will be playing carols on the second Sunday of December. The cantata with full orchestra will
be on the third Sunday, the 16th and we have some beautiful new music this year.
Christmas Eve will give you a variety of services with wonderful music. At 4:30 pm there will be to services
offered. The traditional service in the sanctuary will start with prelude music on the harp by Becky Nissen. The En-
counter service will also have wonderful music prior to the service. At 7:30 pm the prelude music will be
presented by the Beach Brass Quintet with Marty Slapnik. Then, of course, we will have the candlelight
service at 11 pm. You can attend multiple services and hear something different. What a great way to
welcome the baby!

Worship Committee Most of the decorating of the church was done after Thanksgiving. The poinsettias will be placed in the sanctuary in
two batches, half on December 7th and half on December 14th. Anyone is welcome to come and help. So that you can
put it on your calendar, we will be taking down the decorations on the morning of January 8th. For the committee, we
will most likely not have a regular meeting in December since we have so much to do during the month. Thank you for
all you do. All worked very hard to do their parts, but I want to give a special “Thank You” to Deborah Rhyne for the
beautiful display of Harvest Feast on the altar for Thanksgiving.
We will be collecting
for the Red Stocking
Fund on the 4th
Sunday of Advent,
December 23th, during the
morning services. The monies
collected benefit the Pastor’s
Discretionary Fund and the
North Strand Salkehatchie
Camp.

Light keepers
Sunday Nights from 5 pm - 6:30 pm
All elementary-aged kids are welcome!
Jesus tells us in John 8 that He is the light of the world! What a great feeling to know that no
matter where we are or what we are facing we always have His light to help us through it. We
are never alone! We hope that on Sunday nights children through lessons, crafts, music and
games learn more about their savior who loves them. We are all His Light keepers!
AMPLIFIED YOUTH
All middle and high school students are invited to join us. We are meeting Sunday nights from 5 pm until 6:30 pm. Our theme verse for the
year is Colossians 1:10 which tells us that if we live a life pleasing to God, we bear fruit and grow in knowledge of our creator. What an incredible
goal to strive for! We will integrate music, scripture, prayer and plenty of fun along the way also. We hope to see you Sunday night!
EDUCATION MEETING - December 4th at 5:30 pm
Amplified will be eating out, traveling
from home to home, on Sunday night,
December 16th. We will LEAVE the
church at 3:45 pm. We will see you that
night; just make sure you come hungry!
Our children will be helping with our Christmas Cantata.
We are in search of shepherds, and angels. If you have your
own costume you can wear it, and we can help you if you
need one.
The cantata is at both services on Sunday, December 16th.
Please contact Charles with any questions.

Mission Ministry News December 2018 ASAP Bake Sale – The ASAP bake sale held on November 18th was a success. We raised $600.00 to buy food for
our veterans. Thanks to everyone who baked, brought and bought the delicious goodies.
Peanut Butter & Jelly - ASAP needs Jelly (grape and strawberry). Please pick some up when you go shopping.
I have a Special Request this holiday season. Please say an extra prayer for our ASAP veterans and for all veterans.
Many active duty service members will be away from home and family this Christmas. Pray for their safety and for
their families that will miss them. All around the world there are cemeteries where the brave men and women who
gave their lives for our country rest. Pray for their families that they will have peace. Remember the veterans that
suffer from PTSD. Pray that they will have peace of mind. Please remember that all veterans (Active Duty, National
Guard or Reserves) have offered to give their lives for our country. Pray for them and their families.
Please say a Special Prayer for the people of the villages that will benefit from the wells that we have provided.
Pray for the children and their families that receive the Shoes That Grow. Pray for the local children who have shoes
to wear to school because of the money we give to Helping Hand. Pray for the homeless in our community. Please
pray for the people who have warm socks because we provided almost 1000 pairs. And please pray for our church
that we will remember that all we do, we do because God has blessed us abundantly. I know that many
of us are already praying for these that I have mentioned, but this is a request for an extra prayer.
Thank you for all of the support you give to our mission projects.
If you have any questions or suggestions for your Mission Committee, please contact Frank Autry at 843-685-1190
