9

WEB 1.0?• It is the Web of ‘informative’ sites,

featuring an unidirectionl communication flow, from the manager (owner) of the site to the user

• The control on the contents is 100% in the hands of its owner

Consequences, new opportunities, new challenges

• Information Overload• New, precious knowledge available

The Web meets Artificial Intelligence

Page 19: TRI-ICT e-Learning tool on WEB 2.0

19

Some AI techniques

• Understanding concepts, not only matching key words

• Adding context in order to disambiguate

• Personalize the interaction

• Extracting and classifying information

• Recommend contents

• Ranking on the base of the relevance of the content

What is WEB 3.0?

• Web 3.0 is the most recent evolution of the Web, already taking place

• The tools of Web 3.0, also known as Semantic Web, will be able to automatically understand the meaning of the content of Web pages, and to reason on them.

• A Web 3.0 site is not any more simply ‘an archive of words/video/audio’, and it can be seen as a ‘container of concept, a ‘knowldge base’

• In the Web 3.0 era, we will have tools capable of finding information with a high level of precision, capable of relating concepts, extracting relevant information, producing new knowledge.

• All this is possible through AI techniques
