• My name’s John Reynolds and having owned a dog which suffered from mange, I’ve seen the pain animals go through at such times. As an animal lover, and pet owner, I’ve been researching to find best treatments to cure his illness.

Types of Mange

• Mange is an inflammatory skin disease caused by tiny parasite mites on dogs.

• There are two types of Mange: 1. Sarcoptic Mange2. Demodectic Mange

• Both have separate causes and symptoms.

Sarcoptic Mange

• Sarcoptic Mange is a contagious disease caused by the scabies mite.

• These mites burrow under the skin and cause intense itching.

Testing For Sarcoptic Mange

• Rub the dog’s ear between your fingers and keep your eye on dog’s hindquarters.

• If you see your dog reaching out his hind legs to scratch his ears, you can suspect that he may be suffering from Sarcoptic Mange.

Demodectic Mange

• Demodectic Mange mites live in the hair follicles of your dog.

• Demodectic Mange also has three types:

1. Localized Mange2. Generalized Mange3. Demodectic

Testing For Demodectic Mange

• A diagnosis of demodex in an adult warrants testing for hypothyroidism, heartworm disease, cancer, or immune deficiency.

Symptoms of Mange

• Intense Itching• Hair Loss• Bald Spots• Swollen feet• Patches of red

irritated bumps on you or family members.

Untreated Mange can Cause..

• Untreated Sarcoptic Mite infestations can lead to death.

• Untreated Demodectic Mange can lead to secondary bacterial infections of the skin.

Treatment for Mange in Dogs

• You will need to consult a vet for treating a dog suffering from mange.

• Your vet can spot mange infections by spotting mange mites with microscope.

• Sarcoptic mange is treated with insecticidal shampoos and sprays.
