A fully hands-on curricular workshop bringing history to life in your school. FROM POOR HOVELS A HANDFUL OF PIONEERS CREATED AN INSTITUTION “to learn by discovery” The story of Victorian Pioneers who helped change our country forever. • With over 30 years of experience presenting and teaching history, we can capture and hold the attention of children (and adults) who then retain what they hear and experience. • Our sessions bring a richness of experience; listening , watching and participating in a mixture of short drama cameos, hands-on activities and the handling of a huge range of artefacts, and (as we learn through feedback) a great use of language in discussion afterwards. • Social history is implicit in the activities, in particular with the contextualisation of artefacts and use of drama. • Cross-curricular links are numerous – teachers are able to connect elements of workshops from history to , geography, art, dt, science, drama, maths, English and more... In fact we have been teaching in “Creative Curriculum” style for years now! • Enthusiastic children learn and remember better! When listening, they often sit remarkably still and quiet, demonstrating a high level of involvement. Delivered by HEURISTICS www.heuristics.org.uk Email - [email protected] 07860 966251
