Travelling to Canada for School? This checklist is for applicants who have received their Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from Seneca for the Fall 2021 term. Section 1 of 2: Pre-Departure If you need help with any of the steps outlined here, contact us at [email protected]. Preparing for Class IMPORTANT TO-DO’S To complete as soon as possible before your first day of class Sept. 7, 2021: If your application was accepted, you would have received an email requesting confirmation of your program choice on Student Home. Please confirm your program choice as soon as possible. When you confirmed your program, you would have received an official Letter of Acceptance (LOA). Your Letter of Acceptance is filled with important dates and information. You must pay your first semester fees by the due date noted in your fee statement. Act fast, some programs fill early. Once you have your Letter of Acceptance for the September 2021 term you should immediately apply online for a Student Visa (study permit). ALL international students should apply for a Study Permit even if you plan to take online classes from home. If your program includes a co-op or work placement, you should apply for a Study Permit and Co-op Work Permit at the same time. Some programs require you to take an online SKILLS ASSESSMENT TEST. Online booking and more information can be found online. NOTE: Seneca’s online skills assessment appointments fill quickly. If you have not already completed the skills assessment, please book an assessment online by selecting Newnham Campus. You cannot complete your class schedule until you have completed a skills assessment. Late July 2021: If you have paid your fees in full and your account is in good standing, you may be able to complete your INTENT TO ENROL. You must complete your INTENT TO ENROL on STUDENT HOME to qualify for enrolment and to create your class schedule. Instructions can be found online. Travelling to Canada for School?

This checklist is for applicants who have received their Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from Seneca for the Fall 2021 term.

Preparing for ClassIMPORTANT TO-DO’STo complete as soon as possible before your first day of class Sept. 7, 2021:

Ifyourapplicationwasaccepted,youwouldhavereceivedanemailrequestingconfirmationofyourprogramchoice on Student Home. Please confirmyourprogramchoice as soon as possible.

Whenyouconfirmedyourprogram,youwouldhavereceivedanofficialLetterofAcceptance(LOA). YourLetterofAcceptanceisfilledwithimportantdatesandinformation.

You must payyourfirstsemesterfees by the due date noted in your fee statement. Act fast, some programs fill early.

Once you have your Letter of Acceptance for the September 2021 term you should immediately apply online for a Student Visa (study permit).

Before You TravelBefore you travel to Canada, please know that as an international student you need the following:

• Study Permit or valid Port of Entry Letter of Introduction

• Passport with a valid VISA or eTA (electronic Travel Authorization)

• Seneca Letter of Acceptance (LOA)

• Proof that you have enough money to support yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada

• Written or electronic documentation of a negative COVID-19 laboratory test no earlier than 72 hours prior to yourflight.Thetestcaneitherbeamolecularpolymerasechainreaction(PCR)orloop-mediatedisothermalamplification(LAMP)test-fromalabaccreditedbyanexternalorganization(e.g.government,accreditedby a third party, such as a professional organization or ISO). Please visit this Government of Canada site for a full list of accepted types of tests and the data elements required in your negative test result.

Students Travelling from India If you are travelling on a direct flight from India to Canada on or after Sept. 27, 2021 (12:00 AM EDT), you must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 molecular test from the approved Genestrings Laboratory at the Delhi Airport. The test must be taken within 18 hours of your scheduled departure to Canada. Prior to boarding, airline representatives will check your test results to ensure you are eligible to come to Canada. If you are fully vaccinated, be sure to upload this information to the ArriveCAN App or website.

NOTE: If you are flying to Canada on an indirect route, you must test negative for COVID-19 in a third country other than India. The molecular test must be taken within 72 hours of your departure from India.

• A receipt on your ArriveCAN Appconfirmingthatthegovernmenthasreceivedyourtravelplans.Remembertosubmityourquarantineinformationthroughthe Seneca International Arrivals (iCent) App as well.

NOTE: You will not be allowed to enter or begin your studies in Canada without the necessary authorized documentation.

Vaccination, Quarantine and Testing ★ IF YOU ARE FULLY VACCINATED:

If you have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with a vaccine (or vaccines) approved by the Canadian government, youmaybeexemptfromthe14-dayquarantineandday-8testingrequirement.

New quarantine rules and arrival procedures can be found in our Arrival document. Please review carefully for a list of approved vaccines and required documentation.

Pre-departure checklist:

• Refer to this Government of Canada site for full arrival details • Through your ArriveCAN App and Seneca International Arrivals App you must provide: - Flight arrival information - Proof of vaccination in the ArriveCAN App - Afull14-dayquarantineplanthroughtheArriveCAN App.• You must submit a suitable quarantine plan through the ArriveCAN and Seneca International Arrivals (iCent) App in caseyoudon’tqualifyforthequarantineandtestingexemption.YoumaybeaskedtoexplainyourquarantineplantoCanadian border agents at the airport.

• You must arrange with Seneca for transportation from the airport to your residence or the place where you will serve your quarantine through the Seneca International Arrivals App (Start Here icon)

★ IF YOU ARE NOT FULLY VACCINATED:

If you have not been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with a vaccine (or vaccines) approved by the Canadian government, youwillberequiredtoarrangeaccommodationsfora14-dayquarantineperiod.Pleasefollowthischecklistcarefully:

DownloadsPlease add these downloads to the mobile phone or tablet you will be using in Canada. You will need access to these apps prior to travelling to Canada and when you arrive in Canada.

Seneca International Arrivals (iCent) App The Arrivals App contains a full selection of COVID-19-related instructions you must follow when entering Canada.

And,you’llfindthemandatoryformsandtasksyoumustcompleteandpresentattheairportwhenyouarrive.

ArriveCAN App The ArriveCAN App was created by the Canadian government to help you minimize wait times and delays upon

arrival. Share your quarantine plan with customs and immigration, and complete your daily check-in while you quarantine in Canada.

Seneca Virtual OneCard The Virtual Seneca OneCard is your student I.D. You will present it when coming to campus (after you arrive in Canada)

and accessing library resources or the inter campus shuttle. You can also use it to make purchases on-campus, manage your student account and more.

The MORCARE Medical App AccesstohealthcareanddentalservicesinCanadamaybequitedifferentfromwhatyouareusedtoathome.

A summary of services can be found online and you can download/print your MORCARE Medical Card at the Seneca International website.

NOTE: Wi-Fi is available at the airport. If you do not have a Canadian SIM, you will still have access to online services.

Seneca’s App Suite

Seneca has an app suite to help you stay up to date on the latest Seneca news and access resources including your class schedule, grades, fees and more through SENECA MOBILE.

For students with in-person learning activities on campus, SENECA NAVIGATEwillhelpyoufindclassroomsandwashrooms easily thanks to detailed maps of Newnham and Seneca@York campuses.

SENECA SAFE enables you to receive important safety alerts directly to your smartphone if an on-campus emergency occurs. You will also use this app to complete your daily COVID-19 self assessment before coming to campus.

Technology All students who are attending Seneca need to ensure that their technology (hardware,

software and network access) meet all requirements for accessing Seneca online. These requirements can be found online.

To protect the health and safety of our community, Seneca is requiring that individuals be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition to come on campus and to live, work or attend student residence during the Fall 2021 term (Sept. 7 – Dec. 23, 2021). Learn more.

Plan for Groceries, etc. Duringyour14-dayquarantineperiodin

Canada, you will need to arrange for the delivery of groceries and essentials. Most grocery stores and pharmacies will deliver toyourfrontdoor.Checkonlinetofindanoption in your neighbourhood.

08Plan Your Finances Have a plan for how you will manage

yourfinances,payforgroceries,rent,etc. During your quarantine, you will be unable to go to a bank to set up accounts.

Visit this website for helpful links to Canadian banks.

Seneca campuses are cashless. For students coming on campus, you will be able to use your debit, credit or the Seneca OneCard for purchases and payments.

Book Your Mandatory Quarantine Transportation Seneca provides mandatory transportation from the airport to your place of residence or quarantine location by

privatetaxiatnocostbasedonyourquarantineplansubmittedthroughthe Seneca International Arrivals (iCent) App (StartHereicon).

Mandatory Forms The Seneca International Arrivals (iCent) Appincludesinstructionsandrequirementsforyour14-dayquarantine

period. You will also need to show proof of an acceptednegativeCOVID-19testpriortoyourflightandareceiptthatthe Canadian government has received your travel plans on the ArriveCAN App.

NOTE: You will not be able to enter Canada without the mandatory forms, including your 14-day quarantine plan and a negative PCR or LAMP COVID-19 test result obtained 72 hours prior to your flight. Visit this Government of Canada site for a full list of accepted types of tests.

If you are travelling from India, please pay special attention to test requirements detailed on page two in the section “Students Travelling from India.”

During Your Mandatory 14-Day Quarantine Period On each day of your quarantine period, submit your daily check-in through the Seneca International Arrivals (iCent)

App and ArriveCAN App.

Upon arrival in Canada, you will be provided a COVID-19 At Home Specimen Collection Kit to use for your test on day 8ofyourquarantineperiod.Thekitwillcontaineverythingyouneedtoknowabouthowtocollect,storeandshipyoursample. Visit the Government of Canada “Flying to Canada” website for more details.

• Additional details can be found on the Seneca International Arrivals (iCent) App under Quarantine Planning/Mandatory Testing for COVID-19.

• Remember,youmuststayinquarantineuntilyouhavereceivedanegativeresultfromtheday8testusingthekitprovidedanduntilyour14-dayquarantineperiodiscomplete.

Complete your Post-Quarantine Attestation on the Seneca International Arrivals (iCent) App.

Plan Your Travel Remember, if you are travelling to Canada, you will not be home for months — plan and pack carefully. Review our

suggested packing list.

Review important things to bring in your carry-on luggage:

• Study Permit or Port of Entry Letter of Introduction

• Passport with a valid VISA or eTA (electronic Travel Authorization)

• Seneca Letter of Acceptance (LOA)

• Proof that you have enough money to support yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada

• Proof of an acceptednegativeCOVID-19laboratorytestresultnoearlierthan72hourspriortoyourflight.Ifyou are travelling from India, please pay special attention to test requirements detailed on page two in the section “Students Travelling from India.”

NOTE: Be sure you have in your carry-on any snacks, medication, toiletries and any other items you may need while in quarantine. You will not be able to go out to shop for 14 days after your arrival. You may be able to arrange for deliveries but allow for delays.

To begin attending your hybrid format courses starting Sept. 7, 2021, you must arrive in Canada in time to quarantine for14daysornolaterthanAug.24,2021.
