A-Level History-Year 12 Summer Work

The Tudors: England, 1485-1603

Hello and welcome to the Tudors A-Level course, this new A-Level is a new and exiting addition to the A-level programme offered at Gildredge House. As the majority of our students will have had very little experience of the Tudor period in their previous studies, the summer work is designed to give you an overview of Tudor society. Completing these tasks will give you a good basic understanding of some of the most important aspects of Tudor Society. Task Please complete the below tasks. I have also attached reading to help you complete these tasks.

1) Please purchase a copy of the following book: Oxford AQA History for A Level: The Tudors: England 1485-1603 Paperback – 3 Sep 2015 by Michael Tillbrook (Author), Sally Waller (Series Editor) ISBN-10: 0198354606

2) Produce one A4 page of relevant and interesting information on each of these 4 Tudor topics: Social structures & society, the economy, religion and politics. Your information pages should include visual images and 5-10 bullet points (4 pages in total). Please remember that the course starts in 1485 and ends in 1603 so all Tudor monarchs should be considered in your work.

3) Complete the reading which is attached, write down 2 questions you still have about Tudor England after reading this.

4) Begin to create a glossary all the key words you come across in your reading. These definitions should be relative to the Tudor period and will help you to build up a historical vocabulary.

Please fill an A4 piece of paper with information for each of the topics listed below. You should complete a separate side of A4 for each topic. The sheet should include some visual representation of the topic, for example, pictures, diagrams etc. Additionally, you should have between 5-10 bullet points for each topic with some relevant or interesting material that gives information about this topic in our period of study. The topics you should cover are as follows;

1. Tudor Social Structures and society 2. The Economy 3. Religion 4. Politics
