Transfer students are expected to have been in good academic standing at all previous institutions. You’re a strong candidate for admission if you have the following:

• A minimum of 30 college-level credit hours • A cumulative 2.4 GPA or higher from all

institutions attended

Students with less than a 2.4 cumulative GPA from all previous institutions are encouraged to apply. Any negative grade trends or failing grades should be explained in a personal statement. If transfer students have fewer than 30 college-level credit hours, high school academics will also be taken into consideration.

Note: No portion of an applicant’s previous collegiate record can be omitted. Students who fail to list all institutions previously attended may forfeit admission to UNC and/or student conduct regulations may apply.

For more information, visit unco.edu/orientation.

Contact your major department to be advised one-on-one.

Attend our on-campus Transfer and Non-Traditional Welcome.

Orientation Before students are allowed to register for classes, an online orientation is required for all transfer and nontraditional students to introduce student essentials and resources. After being admitted into UNC, the link to online orientation is sent to each student’s BearMail.

WESTERN UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE (WUE) RESIDENT TUITIONStudents from a WUE state automatically save more than $5,000 in tuition costs each year with the WUE program. To automatically receive the WUE tuition rates, you must be a permanent resident of one of the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington or Wyoming. The WUE tuition rate is automatically offered and applies to all terms — fall, interim, spring and summer — and to part-time and full-time enrollment. It isn’t applied for programs and courses offered through the Office of Extended Campus, as Extended Campus has separate tuition rates. Your application for admission also serves as your application for WUE tuition and admission-based scholarships. In addition, you may submit the UNC Scholarship Application to be considered for other scholarships.

Note: Students cannot qualify for in-state residency after attending UNC as a WUE student. One would need to decline WUE and pay non-resident tuition for one year before establishing in-state residency.

*Taking 15 credits per semester (30 per year) allows students to graduate in 4 years.1 Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Program — WUE provides reduced tuition to residents of one of the states participating in the WUE program. Note: Students cannot qualify for in-state residency after attending UNC as a WUE student. One would need to decline WUE and pay non-resident tuition for one year before establishing in-state residency.2 Based on 15 credit hours per semester and after the College Opportunity Fund (COF) is applied to the student’s bill. 3 Based on UNC 19 Meals Per Week plan and Tier 2 housing plan.

VISITING CAMPUSUNC offers Daily Tours every weekday at 8:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Touring campus is one of the best ways to get a sense of whether UNC is right for you.

However, as a transfer student, we know you’ll have questions that differ from a traditional first-year student’s, so we’d like to invite you to one of our transfer-specific visit options.
