6.0 For Discussion 6.1 TRP State Team Action Plan Discussion
about WA remaining as part of the UTA. With the growth of TRP in
WA, perhaps WA could stand on its own. All TC members in agreement
that WA should withdraw from the UTA. Aim to increase quality of
athletes attending nationals to have higher success rate. State
Team Action Plan was reviewed - Tony (TB) to update and maintain
action plan 6.2 Judging Coordinator Meeting Feedback 6.2.1 Official
of the Year nominations Decision made to roll over to next meeting

account so that it can accumulate and be used after several
years (for instance) 6.2.3 Mid level judging awards Agreement was
that no mid level judging awards should be provided. If funds are
available they should be allocated to TRP committee for other items
6.2.4 Judge Fining Agreement that judge fining needs to continue
for TRP. TC also needs to look at incentives to get judges to judge
at nationals. 6.3 Gymsports Meeting Feedback 6.3.1 Coach
Encouragement Awards TC discussed the need for coaches to be
recognised by having a Rookie, Long Service or Community Award on
offer each year (similar to Official of the Year awards). TC agreed
they are not valued amongst coaching community and therefore not
needed for TRP. 6.3.2 Effectiveness of General Members on the TC
Surveys will be sent out to all TC members shortly, to gauge what
each member contributes to the TC. Likely timeframe to be after
Australian Championships 6.4 American Warmup at events Concern
regarding the amount of time that is wasted. The system is fine as
long as it is used correctly and not additional to general warmups.
Judging coordinator or marshall needs to work together with the
coaches and limit to 20 minutes maximum, OR American warm up but
not both. 6.5 Loftus Challenge Event Review. View is Loftus centre
is too expensive, and request that Peak or another club may be used
to host events. GWA to confirm 6.6 Special Needs Nicole Colev (GWA
Gymability Officer) was in attendance at the meeting and was
involved in the discussion regarding how to increasing TRP into
schools and ability to extend to special needs kids. Nicole offered
to run workshops for coaches in each club to understand how to
include athletes with special needs. She is happy for clubs to
approach her directly to organise
an option for TRP LZ to pass on feedback at next Judging
Co-ordinators Meeting AJ to pass feedback on to GWA TC members to
pass information back to clubs

6.7 TRP Schools Program Looking to include competition to school
groups to gain more members across all clubs. Issues is gaining
access to the tramps to enable this. Plan is to have two streams,
existing competing athletes, and new to tramp teams. Schools
Program for clubs - concern raised about the insurance required and
whether the adding these associated costs to fees makes the
athlete’s fees too high. Advice was to check with JLT for
confirmation of how insurance is managed, but understood provided 4
week coverage for school groups. LK to drive activity in structure
for next year with Nicole. 6.8 Letter from Starmites A letter of
concern was received by Starmites regarding the timing and general
effectiveness of the last competition and the changes to the
judging courses. SW to write letter to respond with input from
Laurie regarding the course schedules for ongoing Judges
courses.

Judging Co-ordinator Report
The first three months have been very hectic with a lot of
scheduling and education for our judges to
be accredited and running the competitions.
The Judges of the competitions - I would like to thank them all
for attending all three competitions
and they have done a fantastic job overall in qualifying kids
for the State Team. There were a few
teething problems during competition time but we managed to get
through it but people have to
realize that the judges who committed to judge worked very hard
to be consistent and fair to all
athletes.
On the education side of things, I am personally extremely
disappointed that major clubs do not
follow calendar to get judges accredited to help run our comps.
Having enough judges for one panel
made competitions run very long and tiring. It is very hard for
judges to concentrate for such a long
comp.
The last four years as Judging Co-ordinator I have been giving
reports that we need educate and
expand our judges to keep up with demand of athletes. We have
now hit a critical situation that we
do not have enough high level judges to maintain demand. Major
clubs need to step up and help
with education and numbers to make competition run more
efficient.
The Intermediate Bronze course is no longer available and a new
course will be out to replace it in
the near future. This new course will be introduced later in the
year as the current course does not
cover the new code of points.
The Intermediate course will be booked with Danielle and I need
Clubs to ask their nominated
members to leave the weekend aside so they will be available to
complete the course. GWA and I
will not be rescheduling courses any longer to suit one or two
people. It is too time consuming and
there are many hours work that go into course preparation. I
urge Clubs to make an effort and have
the commitment from their nominate members to be available.
The advanced course will be pencilled in later in the year
providing people attend workshops to
prepare them for the completion of this course. As a tramp
community we need to work as a team
not as individual clubs.

Coaching Co-ordinator Report (April 2014) The first part of the
year has been particularly busy with competitions. In that time I
have been fortunate enough to meet and start building a rapport
with some of the WA competitive trampoline coaches. I approached
Danielle Halliday asking for all the GWA affiliated clubs which
currently run tramp programs. I also asked for contact details of
the main people in those clubs so that I could approach them and
speak to them to find out what level coaches they had and if they
had any coaches which they planned to upskill in the course of the
year. The reason for this is so I could inform them of any upcoming
coach’s courses to try and help boost participation at these
courses. Danielle came back to me with a list of clubs which have
tramp programs; however she did not give me any contact details for
people in those clubs. I therefore have taken it upon myself to get
contact details for all the clubs and will be making contact with
them in the coming weeks. Leo Kimble Coaching Co-ordinator

Event Coordinators overall report
- Only having 1 Judging panel has made competitions run all day
when with 2 panels we
could have been in and out by mid day at the first 2 trials, and
had a 1 day competition
for Loftus Challenge.
- Peak as a venue provided a lot of positives; however lack of
podium floor matting and
the strict opening hours of the venue need to be considered if
planning an event in the
future.
- Big thank you to southern star for a last minute solution to
the Saturday of the Loftus
challenge! If this venue is to be used again for a competition
however the DMT landing
area situation would need to be assessed.
- A big thank you to all the TC members who over the 3 events
have volunteered their
time to help set up, pack down and run these events! Without
everyone’s time and
efforts this would not be possible!
And finally I would like to put a BIG thank you out to Pam
Walker. After just finishing
my first stint of competitions as the events coordinator, I now
have more of an
understanding of the amount of hours and stress and frustrations
that Pam has been
putting up with for a lot of years in this role! I don’t feel
anyone else in the committee
quite realizes how much you have put in! So once again thanks
Pam! Trampolining over
the last few years would not have been possible without your
time and efforts!

Trampoline Sports, Event Coordinators Report
Qualification Competition 1
2nd March 2014 – Loftus Recreation Center
Pre Competition
As my first competition as events coordinator for trampoline
sports in W.A, I worked with
Adelaide on the organizing of this event. This event was a GWA
organized event.
Venue
The main gymnastics hall at Loftus has everything we need for a
good trampoline competition.
Equipment
The trampolines being only 6x4 trampoline beds left some
athletes under powered on routines
and also meant some more senior athletes had to do smaller
routines. However the DMT and
landing area, floor space for warm up and all other equipment is
of a good standard.
My only safety concern with the equipment at this competition is
the thickness of the matting
on the older set of Acromat end decks.
Timetabling
GWA were responsible for the time tabling of this competition.
As far as I am aware the
competition ran to time.
This was the first event that the American warm up system had
been used. I feel athletes,
coaches, officials and judges all adapted well to this system
and I believe it helped in running a
good on time event.
Major Issues
For me, there were no major issues which occurred or were raised
form Qualification
Competition 1.

Trampoline Sports, Event Coordinators Report
Qualification Competition 2
16th March 2014 – Peak Trampoline Club - Lords sports Center
Pre Competition
This was my first event in charge of organizing the competition
and timetable. Adelaide from GWA assisted me and
guided me on what needed to be done pre competition.
Venue
The hall and venue with regards to space and facilities were
fantastic. However I feel we had a lack of chairs for the
amount of spectators who attended. Also the opening and closing
hours of the venue did cause a problem with
timetabling and set up / pack down of the event.
Equipment
All trampoline equipment was excellent. Some athletes however
complained the DMT was soft and lacking in
power, however it was safe and apart from the athletes
complaints there was nothing dangerous or wrong with it.
We used the Loftus landing area, so this was excellent.
Floor matting however turned out to be an issue. We only had one
layer of floor top matting around the
trampolines. We had 2 of the more senior athletes in the event
fall off the trampolines. One injuring herself when
she hit the floor. Luckily the other one escaped injury, however
injured the coach during the fall. I believe that if
we had of had podium floor matting at this event, the injuries
sustained would have been largely reduced.
Timetabling
I was responsible with the timetabling for this event. I wasn’t
present at the morning session, however when I
arrived for the afternoon session we were running around 45
minutes behind. I am not sure as to what caused this.
In the afternoon session we had the major fall of an athlete
which caused a delay. By the end of the second
session, we unfortunately had to cut finals for the DMT groups.
The reason for this decision was that we did not
have enough time to run finals, and pack down the competition
and relocate the equipment back to its usual hall.
The strict center opening hours of 8am-6pm caused this.
Major Issues
- Lack of podium floor matting
- Lack of seating for spectators
- Cancelling of finals in the afternoon session of DMT
- Strict opening and closing hours causing a problem with set up
and pack down
- Miss communication between GWA and myself on the return of the
landing area (GWA to draw up a form
which needs to be signed whenever removing equipment from
Loftus. Form will contain return dates).

Trampoline Sports, Event Coordinators Report
Loftus Challenge
29th and 30th March 2014 – Southern star and Loftus
Pre Competition
This was a GWA organized event. However with all of the problems
faced 1 week before the competition with the
closing of lords, many thanks must go out to all members of the
TC and clubs for helping make this event possible!
Venue
Southern Star - Many thanks to southern star for helping host
this competition at the very last minute. The venue
was a bit on the tight side for space, however at last minute
notice it was more than sufficient for what we
needed.
Loftus – We used the basketball hall near the café for the
Sunday of Loftus challenge. The hall and facilities
provided no issues, other than the need to move all of the
trampoline sports equipment from Hall 1. Again though
this was a last minute arrangement and was not the end of the
world.
Equipment
Southern Star – The equipment at the venue was all of a good
standard except for the DMT landing area. The hall
did not provide enough room for a full 6 meter landing area
length. It was about 4 meters and then backed straight
into a wall. The wall however was very well matted. This wasn’t
fantastic however with the last minute changes to
venue it was safe and useable for a level 1-3 competition. This
wouldn’t be acceptable if it had been organized
originally to be at this venue or if it was for a level 4 + or a
qualifying event.
Loftus – The standard of equipment on the Sunday was good. The
only problems were again the older set of
Acromat end decks at this venue. The matting on these decks is
very thin. And again the lack of podium floor
matting. However as this was a last minute venue arrangement I
think we were lucky to have any equipment
Timetabling
GWA were in charge of the timetabling for this event. Before the
event we were all very concerned about how to
get through so many entries in one day. If we had have been at
the original venue of Lords, I don’t feel we would
have got through everyone with the 6 pm closing of the center.
However with the 2 venues we did use, the
competition did get completed before closing hours.
We did run around an hour late on the Sunday; this I believe was
due to a mistake in the timetabling (level 4 left
out of the DMT timetable).
A big thank you must go to Pam Walker for her helping GWA with
this incredibly tight timetable.
-
Major Issues
- Loss of Lords sports center 1 week prior to competition
- Dmt landing area at southern star on the Saturday
- Floor matting on the Sunday
- Running late on the Sunday due to a mistake in the
timetabling
Overall though the event ran very well considering all the
barriers put before us!

Gymsport Section Report
April 2014 Gymsports Section Notes and Information
1) Brief Notes from the recent Judging Co-ordinators
Meeting:
a. Official of the Year Nominations – Increasingly frequent
issue with ties
for the Official of the Year, as all gymsports are giving their
top judge maximum points in each category. Judging Co-ordinator’s
were requested to discuss this with their TC and come up with some
suggestions as to how to criteria can be amended to ensure that the
points ranking for each judge can be justified and more easily
compared with other gymsports
b. Fundraising from Class 2 Events – Currently money raised from
fundraising at these events goes into the Gymsport budget and must
be used within the current calendar year. However should the
Judging Co-ordinator’s approve, the money can instead be
transferred straight into the Judges Assembly account, so that
Gymsports can access the money from that account without any time
restrictions.
c. ‘Mid-Level’ Judging Award – Feedback from clubs is that there
isn’t an
award that caters for ‘mid-level’ judges (i.e. not a Rookie or
Long Service). JC’s were requested to take this feedback back to
their TC’s and discuss the relevancy of having an award of this
type and report back at the June Meeting
d. Judge Fining – ongoing from the November 2013 Meeting. This
issue will be discussed further at the June Meeting, since only 2
gymsports were represented at this meeting.
e. Funding for Australian Championships – smaller gymsports
are
currently struggling to fund all judges wishing to attend
Australian Championships every year. Suggestion that perhaps the
funding amounts could vary from one gymsport to the next. This may
allow more judges to receive a least a small amount of funding each
– i.e. a gymsport could potentially fund two judges @$350 instead
of one judge @$700. JC’s were requested to get feedback from their
TC as to whether they would support this option.
f. Judging Panels on the GWA website – request from WAG to have
the
judging panels linked onto the event page on the GWA Website in
order to ensure that each judge has easy access to panels. This was
approved by those present and panels will now be placed on the
website alongside the workplan / schedule.
g. Budgets for TRP Judges Invitational are due to be submitted
to the
GWA office ASAP.

TRP TC_April_Gymsport Section Report
2) Brief Notes from the recent Gymsports Meeting: a. Coach
Encouragement Awards – Suggestion from MAG at a previous
meeting that the Rookie, Long Service, Community Awards that are
in place for Officials, also be used for Coaches in each gymsport.
Recommendation from GWA was that these awards could be implemented,
but each gymsport would only be able to award a maximum of 2
coaching awards each year. TC’s were therefore requested to review
their own criteria for their Coach of the Year award, so that these
new ‘encouragement awards’ could be potentially implemented for
2015.
b. P&L Statements from Events in 2013 – were provided to
each TD at the meeting.
c. Purpose of General Committee Members on the TC – the
effectiveness of the General member position was discussed as
well as the possibility of a smaller committee. The GWA Gymsports
Section will be sending out surveys to TC members to ask what they
feel they contribute to the TC each year.
Business Arising From Previous Minutes
1) Funding Criteria document was updated by MR (Based on
feedback from meeting between Karyn Murray, Susan & Laurie) but
the final document is yet to be reviewed and approved by the TRP
TC.
2) The vacancies on the TRP TC have been filled. The TC welcomes
both Aarron Wake (General member – Assistant to TD) and Tracey
Berry (Communications & Promotion) to the TC for 2014.
GWA Board Minutes (February)
7.1 Gymsport’s Judging Assembly Budgets and Action Plans The GWA
Board noted the following;
• Gymsport Judging Coordinators had revised their budgets and
action plans for 2013- 2016 based on the 2013 surplus and loss
figure (unaudited).
• Many Gymsports overestimated the planned profit to be
generated from their Judges Invitational events and they have had
to make substantial changes to their budgets for 2014 onwards.
• The larger sports have been more accurate with their
budgets.
• RG, TRP, ACR and AER have planned different ways of being able
to generate extra income to primarily support judge travel to
Australian Championships and to provide assistance with funding for
the reaccreditation of FIG judges. These sports currently cannot
consider the implementation of any retention or recruitment
strategies due to the abovementioned issue, but in time it will
become an area which they can focus on.
• To increase the value and ensure more effective planning is
being given to Judges Invitational events, it was agreed at the
Judging Coordinator’s Meeting in November 2013 that all Gymsports
would provide a preliminary Judges Invitational budget by 1st
March. The outcome of this will be reviewed at the last Judging
Coordinator’s meeting in November 2014.
-
TRP TC_April_Gymsport Section Report
TRP The Action Plan and Budget for this Gymsport has been
updated using the GWA templates.
Currently there is no planning for retention and recognition of
judges but instead they have identified allocating funds to improve
their technology to make their events run more effectively. With
the introduction of the Time of Fight Machine (TOF) this will
reduced the number of judges by three when judging Syncro, a
positive cost effective measure, but the sport is also in need of
this machine to be used as part of the scoring process for the top
end athletes.
The budget has ensured that there is funding allocated to:- •
Shortfall to run judging courses where the minimum number does not
reach the limit set
by GWA • Funds have been allocated to train two new trainee
judge course presenters in 2014 and
have catered for the cost of a supervisor for this process to
occur. • Sufficient funds to continue to support judges to attend
Australian Championships. A
funding criteria document has been completed and is currently
being circulated to the TRP TC for approval.
• Sufficient funds set aside to provide assistance for judges to
reaccredit/accredit as FIG judges in 2017.
