EXX – export cancellation

• Made when it is decided to cancel export for an item

– Item returned to sender at sender’s request

– Prohibited goods

• Can happen anytime between EMA and EMC

– Exceptionally after EMC if item is returned by security

Check code list 112 for export cancellation reasons

• Always must be used with appropriate reason and action codes

EDB – item presented to customs

• Made when item is presented or made available for inspection by import customs

• Must be used with appropriate customs facility type

– Check code list 200 customs office facility types


EME – item held by customs

• Made when decision is made to hold item by import customs

– Duties to be paid

– Suspicious content

– Missing documentation

• Must be used with appropriate customs retention code

– Check code list 111 item customs retention codes


EDC – item returned from customs

• Made when item is returned from import customs

• Must be used with appropriate customs release status code and customs office facility type

– Check code list 201 customs release status codes

– Check code list 200 customs office facility type


EMF – departure from inward OE

• Made when item is leaving inward OE

• EMF scan is made regardless of customs involvement

• Made when item arrives at a collection point

– Pack station/lockers

– P.O. box, poste restante

– Shop, gas station

– At customer’s request


Important difference

EMH Unsuccessful (physical) delivery


EMH – unsuccessful physical delivery

• Made when a physical delivery attempt has been unsuccessful

– A physical attempt must be made


• Check code lists 112 and 113 and allowed combinations

• In case of undeliverable items, after agreed number of attempts, a reason code must be provided before returning the item


EDX – import terminated

• Made when item will not be delivered

– Seized by customs

– Unclaimed

– Will be returned without delivery attempt
