Training Site
This training site covers a broad spectrum of critical knowledge at a basic level for radiopharmaceutical scientists who want to learn more about radiopharmaceutical development; design of radiopharmaceuticals, radiochemistry of radiopharmaceuticals with focus on fluor-18 and iodine-123, the use of PET in drug development, IMPD and GMP as well as all important aspects of radiopharmaceutical development from conceptual idea to application in humans.
CreditsUp to 2 ECTS points can be given to the course participants by their home university.
Training Objectives
The objective of both courses is to give participants a basic introduction into important aspects of radiopharmaceutical development, TS4a from a regulatory perspective, TS4b from a chemistry and pharmacy perspective. In addition important applications, like PET in drug development are addressed.
Duration4-days (28 hours) teaching packages in small groups
• Set up of GMP according to eudralex 4• Design of a regulatory dossier for human
applications• Radiopharmaceutical development and
applications• Make an audit of the VUmc GMP system
Course B: Radiochemistry and Tracer Development
75% lectures, 25% practical work• Design of radiopharmaceuticals• Development of radiopharmaceuticals• Radiochemistry of fluorine-18 and iodine-123• Cyclotron technique• Metabolite analysis
