Immunization training of Medical Officers – Issues and Interventions required

Issues Priority is not given to MO

training

Only one or two training centers

involved in the state

Attendance in the sessions is

poor

Training guidelines are not

followed

Lack of regular reporting of the

progress of training by the states

Name-based database of trained

MOs is not maintained.

Recommendations

Priority needs to be given to

complete the training by 2011 –

2012.

Need to decentralize the training in

few states as Bihar, Jharkhand,

Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

States with Partner support to

ensure monitoring of the quality of

training

Report the progress regularly to the

national level along with name based

database of trained MOs.

Issues

Whom to train? CCH in PHCs/CHCs, district level

Planned for one-day training in state PIPs Translation into local languages Non residential training Regular monitoring needed Information regarding trainings planned

not conveyed in time - facilitation Reports of trainings conducted not

conveyed regularly

Page 10: Training

Need for name-based database

Trained CCH - reduced AEFIs and vaccine wastage

CCHs at ILR points keep changing – tracking ILR points for untrained CCH for training

DIOs/district CCTs and SEPIOs/SCCOs can maintain database at own level, track ILR points to train new CCH, supportive supervision & monitoring
