Some Global Training Do’s
State the purpose and objectives of the training first
White space is good
Graphic artists are essential in eLearning and face to face training
Watch for overly complex diagrams or charts
Background graphics should be avoided
Don’t focus on the tool (PPT or eLearning tools) – focus on the content and the objectives
Watch color choice, flying objects on the screen, too many fonts, graphics that don’t fit the topic, poor quality video or audio, etc…
Test your PPT from across the room –keep it simple
Consult with a writer or an instructional designer to help keep the flow of the presentation clear Grammeer and Spel Cheek are
essential – we want a learner to focus on the content, not on the error on the page
For presentations, don’t write complete sentences – use bullet points – less is more – I just broke that rule…

PowerPoint doesn’t kill presentations, people do
The Essential Compliance Training Tool (Learning Management System)
• The LMS at J&J supports over 170,000 employees, contractors and HCP consultants, in 26 languages across 250 operating companies and throughout 60 countries
• If you need advice, feel free to call me
• Quick points:
– Must support the mobile learner
– Must track ALL compliance training
– Must be easy to access
– Compliance Needs are different than the needs of an HR LMS
– If FDA regulated… consider 21 CFR, Part 11 certification
– Spread out the cost across multiple compliance functions, if necessary

Communication Examples
“The Compliance Minute”

• Sales Force Focused
• Mobile
• Short (less than 3 minutes)
• Scenario based

Communication Examples
“The email”
• Still essential but are there other ways to reach employees?
• People have email overload
• Still relevant but can it be tracked easily?
• Hard to measure success

A New Approach to Communicating
• Mobile Web App
• Provides quick tips
• Contact information
• Videos
• Links to training
• Not designed for policy or SOPs
Communication Tips
• Subject should be a call to action: Action required, Informational, etc…
• Never place mass email addresses in the To: field – Use BCC instead
• The 3 Step message:– I’m writing to you because…– The important points are…– I propose that you…
• Consider a Marketing Communication tool like Constant Contact, Jango Mail, MailChimp, etc..., to send out your communications. – These tools have the following capabilities:
• They can track if an email was sent and received• They can track links (click on the policy link, click here for training, etc…)• The system can tell if an email was bounced – important for external
customers of your training/communication• An entire email campaign can be loaded in advance and spread out over a
period of time• These tools make it easy to document your communication activity
