I. TR - ENERGY

Careful market analysis reveals a need for energy products

that are efficient, reliable, and renewable. This need is

formally addressed through TR Energy, a division of Trade

Runner (Pty) Ltd. The well documented energy shortages in

South Africa have led Trade Runner to position itself as a

project based consulting firm in the energy sector of the

economy.

TR Energy implements and manages reliable alternative

and backup energy systems, with value adding service level

agreements, for various clients. Recent global trends have been shifting away from conventional energy

production, towards a demand for renewable energy technologies. TR Energy realizes that the introduction of

sustainable energy sources is vastly important and will affect the ecological and economic survival of the global

society.

Renewable Energy Projects

TR Energy aims to acquire a substantial market share in the renewable energy market through

research and product development. Our renewable energy projects are focused on the

improvement and retrofitting of conventional energy systems to incorporate the use

of renewable fuel sources. As the technology in the energy sector improves we will

continue to investigate and introduce commercially viable, clean alternative energy

solutions.

On-demand Generators Sets and UPS Systems

A comprehensive system must ensure a reliable supply of electricity and

uninterrupted business operations. Our typical backup energy project follows

the necessary site surveys, the sourcing and supply of equipment, installation

and cabling, as well as superior after sales support. Qualified electricians ensure

that a Certificate of Compliance is issued after installation.

Service Level Agreements (SLA) ensures that two parties have a

common understanding of what services are being offered, and

under what conditions these services exist. This ensures that

there are no misunderstandings and that the desired level of

service is achieved.

TR Energy only sells reliable, certified, local products. The

company has ascertained that clients benefit from our industry

experience and timeous, custom solutions. Through our services

TR Energy adds value by reducing the risk to the business

operations of our clients.

Current Projects under Research & Development

Retrofitting of conventional energy systems to be more reliant on renewable energy sources such as LP

Gas and Bio Ethanol.

The inclusion of biomass digesters to convert raw sewage and organic material into methane used to power

conventional energy systems.

Combining solar thermal energy with conventional energy systems to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels.

II. TR - INFORMATION SECURITY

In the current information age, most companies rely on the availability and integrity of their digital information.

Neglecting procedures to ensure the availability, quality, and confidentiality of electronic information may have

disastrous consequences to business operations. TR Information Security was founded as another core service

provided by TR Information Security. This service ties in with existing disaster recovery services to ensure the

availability of digital information through automatic backups to a secure offsite facility. Advances in

information technology and improved access to Internet bandwidth now allow us to provide this service to our

SME clients.

A study conducted by Infonetics Research shows that the

total costs associated with IT system downtime may be as

high as 3.6 % of total revenue. This figure excludes possible

legal liability associated with lost data. Globally, legislature,

such as the US Sarbanes-Oxley Act, requires businesses to

safeguard corporate information from losses. Ensuring the

availability of information is thus important from an

operational and corporate governance perspective.

Benefits of this service include:

A free information audit for qualifying clients identifying the risks to IT systems and associated operations.

An automatic backup of selected corporate information to a secure server located in a high security facility.

Data is transferred securely across an encrypted Virtual Private Networks (VPN).

Reduced downtime in the event of damage to a client’s IT infrastructure and the quick restoration of backed

up data to a client’s server.

Data is accessible and made available where and when it needs to be.

III. TR - CONSTRUCTION

TR Construction is the construction division of

Trade Runner and provides support for various

projects involving physical infrastructure

development. Our construction division has

served on the supply chain for various large

construction projects. Experience in this sector

includes: project management, the development

and production of embedded steel structures,

and building construction. We will assess our

client’s needs and respond with appropriate

combinations of technologies to provide

superior, cost effective, quality driven solutions

that will effectively leverage our capabilities and

plant capacity.

Embedded Steel Structures

Through recent projects we have acquired the capacity to supply high

volume steel structures and frames according to client specification. Our

project management and professional engineering capacity allows us to

manage the development, manufacturing and delivery of high quality, high

volume, steel frames and structures according to SABS and SANS

specifications. Galvanizing of steel structures is also provided if required.

Building Construction and Property Development

Unprecedented demand in the construction sector is driving TR Construction forward and future projects

include building construction and the development of commercial and residential properties. Such projects are

intended for the creation of annuity-based income for the group’s shareholders through property investments

and rental income. Our experience in the renewable and sustainable energy market allows us leverage to

present expertise to our construction operations. This allows for the building and marketing of resource

efficient buildings and projects.

Corporate Social Investment and the Expanded Public Works Program

Trade Runner is committed to corporate social investment. Our construction operations rely on the use of

labour intense production methods and the provision of jobs for tradesmen. TR Construction aims to integrate

with government initiatives, such as the Expanded Public Works Program, to provide job opportunities,

learnerships and training to previously disadvantaged individuals. TR Construction’s geographical footprint

and operational diversity covers civil works, roads, earthworks, piling, and building – underpinned by a fleet of

modern plant and equipment. We have positioned the company to take advantage of future opportunities in the

construction sector

IV. TR - AGRICULTURE

According to the CIA world fact book, agriculture represents only 2.5% of

South Africa’s GDP. Agriculture makes up only a small portion of the South

African economy. Many food items are still being imported from other

nations. This trend has raised concerns surrounding food security in South

Africa. Various issues are fueling these concerns including water shortages,

threats of nationalization of farmlands, and an uncertain global environment.

What is evident is that South Africa has to become efficient at producing

more food to an expanding market of consumers. To do so will require

increased productivity in the farming sector. This, in turn, requires

investment into new farming technologies and methods. TR Agriculture

perceives this trend toward more capital-intensive farming as an opportunity.

Our aim in this sector is to develop and manage capital and infrastructure

development projects that will improve the capacity and profitability of South

Africa’s farms.

V. TR - RE-HOUSING

With our re-housing project, Trade Runner is aiming to obtain a presence in the affordable housing segment.

Re-housing architecture will be used to develop clean and affordable housing solutions, with basic amenities,

to people in South Africa’s informal settlements.

Background

According to Global Property Guide, all segments of the (formal) South African housing sector are not doing

well. House prices declined in real terms and slow growth is expected for 2012 and 2013. With that said, we

regard the informal settlements as an opportunity for a viable business that serves South Africa’s poor. A

housing backlog in informal settlements is evident

and many people have inadequate shelter. By

some estimates the amount of people living in

urban informal settlements is at least 10% of our

population; between 4.5 – 5 million people. That is

a sizable market. Up to the present, government

has failed to address the problem of informal

housing sufficiently. That being said, various

state-led initiatives are making the news as

attempts to solve this problem. From the 2012

budget we note government’s focus on providing

incentives for the developers to provide housing

solutions to the middle-income housing segment

above the RDP threshold.

Value Proposition

Our aim is to cooperate with local governments and municipalities to introduce affordable, modular, re-housing

units to informal settlements. We will position these housing units according to an appropriate low-cost

strategy in the housing market. Trade Runner will combine salient capabilities in the steel and manufacturing

sector into this project to ensure the quick and efficient delivery of standardised low-cost housing units to

informal settlements. Funding will be obtained for the initial stages of the project. Units will be sold via an

appropriate credit and outright sales strategy.
