Project Aims

To establish a team of student ‘mentors’ or advisors who would help their peers gain confidence in using library and computing facilities

The confidence acquired will enable students to develop key skills of finding, evaluating and exploiting information, and to develop basic IT skills.

Outcomes to date & the Future

• Improved support for students – added dimension

• Transferable skills development for Advisors

• Advisors have taken on routine enquiries, freeing up LCC staff time for more in depth support

• Referral process established. Room for further development between Academic Skills Tutors and LCC

• Added focus on IT support
