Highway 404 Noise Barrier - Construction of the noise barrier is now underway from north of Green Lane to approximately May Ave. It is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2016. A full update can be found at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/highway404. Earthworks in Mount Albert - Committee deferred the Oxford Homes earthworks agreement to the June 21 Council meeting for review. Traffic Safety Update - YRP provided an overview of their Traffic Enforcement Strategies which combat impaired, distracted and aggressive driving and ensure seat belt compliance. Residents can report traffic or safety concerns online at www.yrp.ca. Traffic Safety - Staff provided a follow up to traffic and pedestrian safety concerns brought forward by concerned residents at the May 17 Council meeting. Immediate follow up includes: • Installation of a no exit sign on Don Rose Blvd. • Investigation of potential installation of a limestone walkway along Hwy. 48 for pedestrian access to Foodland Oriole Drive Trail and Open Space Updates - Staff provided an outline of the proposed phased development for the Oriole Drive Open Space. Proposed updates include a complete boardwalk, bridge and trail connection with interpretive signs that highlight the unique First Nations and Canadian history of the area as well as a nature park, open space and playground. Staff will continue public consultation as this project moves forward. Samuel Lount Park Reconstruction - Beginning at the end of June, the park will be closed for 3 months to allow for the installation of sanitary sewer through the park. Given the construction interference the developer will cover the cost of updating and re-constructing a new park including a new play structure, hard-surfaced sports court and trails. The play structure was scheduled to be replaced in 2017. The project will result in a savings of approximately $130,000 to the Town. Staff will continue public consultation as this project moves forward.
