Please make sure recyclable items are contained in the cart. Any items outside the recycling cart will not be collected. Make sure to have 3-4 feet between carts to enable the truck arm to grab the containers. If you have more recyclables than can fit in the recycling cart, you may purchase an additional recycling cart for a one-time fee of $45.00. Please call the town at (508) 230-0888. What do I do with bulky items that won’t fit into the trash cart? Four weeks during each calendar year as noted on the inside calendar, you can take advantage of one bulky item collected free of charge. Any other week, you can call and schedule a pick-up. Simply call Waste Management at (800) 972-4545 to schedule a pick-up for a fee of $30.00 - fee subject to change. You could also use The Bagster coupon offer in this guide to dispose of multiple bulk items. Why is there an additional fee to collect bulky items? To keep costs down for everyone, bulky item collection was not included in the base fee since most residents will use this service only occasionally. We encourage you to donate old furniture and other bulk items whenever possible. What should I do if I have a problem with my new cart? If properly handled the cart will last for many years. If you experience a problem with your cart (broken wheel, lid, etc.), please contact Jan Jacobson with the Town of Easton at (508) 230-0888. I’m planning to clean out the garage and have a lot of refuse to get rid of right away. Where will I be able dispose of it? Dear Easton Resident:
Waste Management would like to take this opportunity to provide you with updated information related to waste and recycling services in the Town of Easton. We look forward to helping Easton be as clean and green as possible!
If you have any questions or need more information, please contact:
Department of Public Works: (508) 230-0888 Town website: www.Easton.ma.us Waste Management: (800) 972-4545
Thank you and we appreciate your cooperation.

ScheduleTrash and recycling will be collected weekly. All materials should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on
your collection day. A 2014-2015 calendar with important dates is included in this guide.
TrashAll regular household refuse must be bagged and placed in the GREEN LID cart only for collection.
Material may not be sticking out of the cart.
Note: Do NOT place recyclables in your GREEN LID cart.
The following items are not considered household refuse and will NOT be collected:
• Dirt, sod, concrete or rock
• Construction/demolition debris
• Household hazardous waste
• Hot ashes or flammable materials such as oil, gas or paint
If you occasionally have more trash than will fit in your cart, you can purchase
Town of Easton trash bags that can be put out with your trash cart. Bags are available in packets
of 5 for $15. ONLY official town bags will be collected outside of the cart.
You can buy Town of Easton trash bags at:
You may also check www.Easton.ma.us for an updated list of stores selling approved trash bags.
If you regularly have more trash than will fit in your cart, you can order a second 64-gallon trash cart
by calling the Department of Public Works (508-230-0888). The additional cost for a second cart is
RecyclingEach resident has a 96- gallon, YELLOW LID cart for recycling. Recycling not only conserves precious
natural resources, but also helps to reduce costs by decreasing the amount of materials that go to the
landfill. Please see the next panel to see what materials are acceptable for recycling.
Recycling containers should be placed at the curb weekly on the same day as your regular trash
collection. Leave 3 feet between your solid waste and recycling carts when placing them at the
curb to allow the truck to collect both easily.
Tips for the best serviceCare and use of your cart:
• Always keep the lid closed to keep rain, snow and animals out.
• Clean your cart periodically.
• Since automated waste collection requires clearance for the vehicle’s lifting mechanism,
any cars parked at the curb should be at least 5 feet from the trash cart.
As noted above, the placement of your carts is very important to allow space for the collection
vehicle’s lifting arm. To be safe, leave 3 feet on both sides of the carts and 12 feet overhead.
The carts should be no more than 3 feet away from the road’s edge, with the arrow facing the road
and the hinges facing away from the street.
Holiday ScheduleWhen an observed holiday falls on a normal collection day, collections will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. The following holidays will result in delayed collections:Veteran’s Day – 11/11/14 Thanksgiving – 11/27/14 Christmas - 12/25/14 New Years Day Day – 1/1/15 Martin Luther King Day - 1/19/15 Memorial Day – 5/25/15 Fourth of July - 7/4/15 Labor Day – 9/7/15 Veteran’s Day – 11/11/15 Thanksgiving – 11/26/15 Christmas - 12/25/15

Great things happen when Easton residents Recycle Often and Recycle Right. When everyday items like those shown below are recycled, tons of raw materials, time, energy and money are saved. Plus the recycled materials become new products, and the cycle continues.
• Use your yellow-lid cart for weekly recycling
• No sorting is needed
• Do not put recyclables in plastic bags
• Containers that held food should be rinsed and free of food debris
Recycling is collected weekly on the same day as garbage, but at different times of the day. The following items may be recycled:
No food waste and liquids Keep plastic bags out of recycling
