Dear Residents: After a long and hard winter, summer has finally arrived! There is a certain excitement in the air and everyone is ready for the outdoor activities that summer allows us to enjoy. As you will see in this brochure, the Parks and Recreation Department has many programs, parks and facilities that help contribute to your summer enjoyment! This year, Dave and Cheryl Vermilya are celebrating their 40th year as the director’s of the Town of Camillus Town Shop Teen Center located in the village. During their time in Camillus, they have worked with thousands of teenagers and have been able to make a difference in many people’s lives. We are fortunate to have Dave and Cheryl and on behalf of our residents I want to say “thank you” for your continued commitment and service. Camillus is a special place and our residents are always willing to help their neighbors in a time of need. On Saturday, June 4th at Shove Park there will be a fundraiser for 8 year old Sophie Kawejsza who recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor. For further details and how you can help, please contact Jennifer Halko at 468-9025. I would encourage you to be part of this worthwhile cause. I hope you enjoy your summer! Feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 487-3600. Sincerely, Eric A. Bacon Director of Parks and Recreation

Help Fight Childhood Obesity with……… PHYSICAL ACTIVITY A critical component of weight loss, especially for children, is physical activity. It not only burns calories but also builds strong bones and muscles and helps children sleep well at night and stay alert during the day. Such habits established in childhood help adolescents maintain healthy weight despite the hormonal changes, rapid growth and social influences that often lead to overeating. And active children are more likely to become fit adults. – The Mayo Clinic
