RESOURCE EFFICIENCY PROGRAMME FOR CITIES
Towards
Resource Wisdom
• Resource Wisdom project is developing an over-arching framework
for large or middle-sized cities to encompass climate, environment
and resource efficiency policies as a modular programme.
• City of Jyväskylä is the test-bed for the programme and pilot city in
promoting resource wisdom and in search for resource-efficient and
low-carbon production and consumption.
• The model is a scalable, step-by-step programme for municipalities
and their cross-sectional stakeholders in the region for creating
well-being from circular and carbon-neutral economy.

Implementation
• Departments’ own action planning according to Roadmap • Task groups, chief officers & training • Introduction of resource efficiency indicators • Energy & material efficiency boost by public procurements
• 100% green electricity in public buildings • Low-emissions transportation • Adopting waste hierarchy in waste & material policies • LCA, LCC in built environment • Promoting the use of local food in public buildings
• Co-creation platform & prototyping with residents • Social media & communications to engage local residents and
providing up-to-date information on the sustainability activities.
