Toward understanding of the future of landscape architecture in Japan

Is it not possible　or needed to turn field of Japanese landscape

architecture toward a leadership role in workings of city and regional

planning in light of Tohoku natural disaster or in other

preservation/development planning?

Toward understanding of future vision on　Landscape Architecture　in Japan

造園職能の将来ビジョンの　理解にむけて

Ministry of Land and Transportation of Japan developed a guideline for local

governments to consider in their developing recovery and development

master plans with an emphasis on environment and landscape.

Following page illustrate outline of this guideline.

This guideline clearly states a need for developing Landscape Preservation

and Enhancement Master Plan and appreciation of elements covered in such

plan.

Landscape architect should try to become a leader or a major participants in

developing such a guideline which will impact future works.

国交省は　地方自治体の　東北地震災害復興計画作成に　あたり　景観都市空間形成のありかたに　ついての　ガイドライン（検討調査）を　発行しています。これからも　復興計画にあたり　景観計画の　必要性が　自明だとおもいます。造園景観家は　このような　仕事の　リーダー　または　重要な　共同作業者を　目指すべきでは？　

Landscape architects in Japan have been involved in developing

landscape preservation and enhancement master plan for a large number

of municipalities and private entities for more than 20 years.

Following page illustrates outline of such a plan.

This experience should bring Japanese landscape architects to advance to

more leadership role in preserving and enhancement of environment in

Japan.
