TTRS is an online structured literacy development program that
helps to develop skills in reading, writing, spelling and literacy
taught through the medium of touch-typing.

Learning Objectives: Reading and Spelling
TTRS aims to develop literacy skills, confidence, self-esteem and motivation. The computer course is a supplementary multi-sensory phonics program which can
be used to aid English Language Learners and native English learners, who have not been successful with acquiring literacy through traditional instruction methods.
TTRS is recommended for students over the age of seven and is for use at home, school or college. TTRS is also suitable for adults.
TTRS is designed to be used sequentially, in order to build the skill of touch-typing alongside the acquisition of phonic knowledge.
TTRS offers small incremental steps delivered in a multi-sensory way with the opportunity to repeat modules as frequently as the student wishes.
TTRS is modular in design and contains twenty-four levels with thirty modules in each level. Each module takes approximately five to ten minutes to complete. Continual success is encouraged; as immediate feedback is given at the end of each module with positive reinforcement.
The course starts simply with the vowels - learning to touch-type read and spell - " a,
e, i, o, u “. The student then receives their first score - and success!
In the second module, the student is introduced to their first words through "onset
and rime". For example - fed, wed, led. This teaches phonics in context and at the same time the student is learning how to touch-type. With repetition, these words move from short-term to long-term memory. Repetition is a teaching aid used to
Learn facts, figures and in the case of TTRS - the spelling of words. Some students with dyslexia have problems with their short-term memory. Repetition is a way of “over-learning” which can help with these problems. TTRS uses a multi-sensory approach to repetition learning.
Through the multi-sensory approach, students hear the words through earphones, see the words printed on the screen, and see what fingers to press via the on-screen keyboard. Finally, through the sense of touch, they spell out the words with their fingers, and students learn to “spell with their fingers”.

The TTRS Online course contains 24 levels each with 31
modules containing over 4000 unique words
• Every user starts at Level 1, module 1 however, with the teacher's permission, students can start from a later level (depends on spelling scores and learning needs).
• Level 1 also has an in-built tutor which teaches the student how to touch-type -Therefore if the student cannot touch-type, we recommend that they start from Level 1, Module 1
The curriculum is cross referenced to Alpha to Omega for pre-teaching
a structured phonics program, although the program can be used as a
stand-alone typing course it is most effective when it is used as an
instructional tool to learn and practice English phonics.

Level 1:
• Provides practice in combining, vowels and consonants into three letter words.
Levels 2 and 3:
• Uses consonant clusters combined with vowels to draw attention to the pattern
of sounds and graphemes in the target words. For those where pure synthetic
phonics has not been successful, this provides an additional aid to their
recognition through the grouping of similar words.
Levels 4 to 12:
• Students are introduced to the vowel digraphs, split digraphs and the simple
spelling rules of the English language. Digraphs are shown and spoken in
isolation and then as part of words.
Levels 13 to 20:
• Include the less common spelling patterns and more complex spelling rules.
They also incorporate the rules for suffixing and prefixing and the structure
of syllables. The presentation is similar to that of the earlier levels, providing
repetition and overlearning so it is beneficial for those who find the
acquisition of literacy skills a challenge.
Levels 21 to 24:
• Include homophones, silent letters, countries, names and more advanced
suffixing and prefixing.
