Egypt the changesin the Government
by Aditi Mehendale
Recently theres been a lot of uproar in Egyptabout politics and the government. Following
Egypts former president Mohammed Morsisousting were the deaths of over 30 and theinjuries of over 1000. And the riots dont endthere.
After millions protested over him, Egypts firstfree-standing president Morsi was removed frompower by the army, Wednesday 3rd July. He isnow in detention (facing imprisonment, notstaying for an extra hour after work), along withseveral senior members of his Muslim
Brotherhood movement.
Organisers of recent anti-Morsi rebellions, theTamarod movement, accuse the would-bepresident of failing to tackle economic situationsand problems, as well as continuing to develop anIslamic agenda against the will of most Egyptians.
But, far from Morsi being held in detention andthe entire dilemma being over, protestscontinued on Friday the 5th, when two Cairo
clashes and one Alexandria rebellion led to thedeath toll of 30 plus, and the tally of injuriespassing 1000.
Earlier today (Saturday), after midday prayers,Morsi supporters, intent on bringing him back, staged a series of marches across Cairo. Onewas held outside Rabaa al-Adawiya Mosque, where tens of thousands of people prayed.Continued on page 2

The crowd of supporters advanced upon whereMr. Morsi is rumoured to be held the HQ of aRepublican Guard.
Troops then started to shoot, first firing into theair, then into the crowd. Four were killed anddozens wounded. The armed forces didntseem to aim at anyone in particular, asamongst the injured was BBC reporter JeremyBowen. After the first round of shots, tear gaswas also used.
Come evening, tens of thousands of MuslimBrotherhood supporters were gathered by asquare and in the streets near the mosque. They claimed that [They] shall stay in thesquares until [they] bring President Morsi backto power, but that their protests would bepeaceful.
Some time later, a few of these very supporterswere rushing across 6th October Bridge, overthe Nile, towards where countless anti-Morsi,Tamarod supporters were gathered. Fireworksand stones were hurled between the twoopponent groups; a car was set alight and fourpeople killed in the clash.
At the time of reporting, nothing else hashappened yet, so Ill end it there. But every now
and then, spare a thought for these people, who live in unsafe countries, and whosometimes cannot trust their Government, theirarmed forces, or sometimes even theirneighbours.
Goodbye Cup-cakesby Abby Blackwell
This is a really good, simple way to makecupcakes, maybe even for someone who isleaving.
Ingredients
Selfraising flourEggsMilkCaster sugarButterIcing sugarWater OR lemon juice
The reason why this recipe is SO simple is
because all of the ingredients have the sameweight, except for the milk. It is a good ideato weigh the eggs first, as it saves a lot ofconfusion later. I would recommend that youstart with two eggs, which is planty to begetting on with. (Two eggs make about 10-12cupcakes.)
Start by mixing together the sugar and butter(approximately 120 grams if you are usingtwo eggs) until the mixture is smooth. Sieve
in the flour, and mix again. Add in the eggsand 10-15 ml of any kind of milk.
Spoon into the cupcake cases, on a bakingsheet, and bake at 200 C for about 15minutes, or until golden brown.
While they are baking, epending on howmany cakes you have made, sieve out someicing sugar. Only use a few drops of water orlemon juice at a time, as if the icing is too
runny, you cant use it anymore.
Mix it until you cant mix it anymore, and adda few more drops of liquid. Spoon onto thecupcakes when they are cold, and if youwish, add some small sweets or decorationsweets.

Mr and Mrs Toveys Favourite Books as
Childrenby Adassa Walker
What books do we like to read now and what books
were popular in the past? Throughout the years,
favourite childrens authors have changed from Enid
Blyton to modern day authors like David Walliams or
Michael Morpurgo.
As this is a special edition of Totally Tockington and Mr
& Mrs Tovey's last ever one, I thought it would be fun if
I looked back and gave you a snapshot of their favourite
childhood books. When I spoke to Mrs Tovey, I discovered that she was a
keen reader and loved her books as a child. She really
liked Enid Blytons books and her favourite from this
author were: Mallory Towers , Famous Five and SecretSeven.
Mallory Towers - This is a six book series about a
boarding school for girls in Cornwall. The main
character is Darrel who joins the school in first form but
its not easy getting through school.
Famous Five - The books feature the adventures of a
group of young children called Julian, Dick, Anne and
Georgina (George) and their dog Timmy. The stories
always take place in the children's school holidays when
they come home from boarding schools. In every book, when they meet, they get caught up in an adventure.
There are 21 Famous Five books in this series and over a
hundred million books have been sold.
Secret Seven -The Secret Seven are also adventure
stories but are set in term time not in the holidays.
When I interviewed Mr Tovey in the office, he told me
that he wasnt actually that keen on reading when he
was a boy! His favourite books were about sports such
as tennis, football and Rugby.
Altogether, I think Mr and Mrs Toveys books are really
enjoyable, although they had very different styles.
Once they have retired, they will have plenty of time to
read - perhaps Mrs Tovey will read Mr Tovey some
Famous Five to remind him of Tockington?

A Goodbye Poemby Lucy Allan-Jones
Thirty-eight years ago,
You came to lead this school,
You took it on as your own,
And you have changed it so.
This is a poem to say,
Goodbye and Good Luck,
For all the years to come,As you travel along your way.
From all the children at
Tockington Manor,
Good Luck in your retirement,
Make the most of every moment
In the style of your very own

Max Reportsby Max Curtis
As a run-up to Sports Day, some pupils went to the South West National Championshipsat Millfield. During the day Ijeoma broke the South West record in the shotputt. From this, three TMS pupils were chosen to attend the National Finals and Mr Cann took AlexGrocott, Ijeoma and Max Curtis to Birmingham where Alex and Ijeoma secured 3
rdplace
on the podium for the 1500 m and Shotputt respectively.
What a day it was and so was Sports Day !
The weather was fantastic, all competitors gave 100% effort and, in the words of Mrs
Wakeling: It was the best day of the year!
It was the end to a wonderful athletics season with a total of 17 records being broken inaddition to many more personal best times being achieved.
The Athletics Finals was an excellent day for all of TMS to demonstrate their talent and MrJones was proud of everyone and in particular the good sportsmanship shown by all thepupils with everyone congratulating each other at the end of their race or event.
This did not however put a dampener on the healthy competition between the individualhouses - whilst Alexander was victorious in the end the energy and enthusiasm shown byall pupils supporting their house made us all very proud.
On Saturday 8 records were broken which included Helena in the 100m, Jessie in the600m, Oliver Shutt for the cricket ball throw, Max and Alex Grocott for the 600m, Freyaand Ijeoma for the shotputt.
Mr Glanville said that he thought all pupils were Well-behaved and the day showed offwhat is important about the school and Mr Mildon was Very impressed about thestandards and that so many records were broken

Longballby Oliver Shutt
Longball is a sport which Mr Cann and Mr Jones created. There is about the same number
of people on each team. Also you have to have at least two teachers, one who will bowl, and one who will be wicket keeper. And you lay it out by making a rectangular shape outof cones on top field. The last thing is you need a tennis racquet and a ball.
How to play(Batting)
One of the teachers bowls the tennis ball at you. Then, after you hit it, you try and runuphill to the top of the course, but when you are running, people are trying to throw the ballat you, and if you get hit by the ball you are out. If one of the fielders catch the ball afteryou hit it, all of your team are out. When you make it to the top, you can run back straightafter, which would get you 2 runs, or you can wait for someone else in your team to smashit then you run down, this would get you 1 point.
How to play(Fielding)
When youre fielding you have to always be awake, waiting for someone to hit it up, so youcan catch it. Also when someone in the batting team absolutely smashes it, you need totry and get it into the middle with a powerful FLAT throw. Then the fielders in the middleshould try and get the people going down, not the person going up. Also, for a tip, when
there arent many people left in the batting team, try and get the ball back to the bowler asfast as you can to stump them out.
So I hope that Mr Jones and Mr Cann keep the game going when Mr & Mrs Tovey retire.

A Recipe for Fridge Cake
This should only be a special treat, as there is an awful lot of sugar in it but it is really a lot of fun to makeand good if it is your first time cooking.
Ingredients500g of milk chocolate(preferably FairTrade)
Filings (optional)Mini marshmallowsDigestive biscuitsCurrants or raisins
Ginger biscuitsAnything else that you want!
Melt the chocolate in a bowl, but be careful not to burn it, as it burns really easily. As thechocolate is melting, break the biscuits into chunks ( not crumbs). When all the chocolate is
melted, add the biscuits to it. Then add all of the other ingredients. Put it into the fridge until it ishard.
Simple but delicious!
