Mrs. Taylor is our new principal here at Travis. Five years ago she was here as an assistant principal. She’s tough, but wants Travis to be the best school in the district. She wants all kids to be successful. She would be so happy if we all passed all our subjects and the new STAAR Test. When asked what she thought about our school she said, “I love it. Travis is a great school.” She doesn’t like to change things around too soon, so uniforms are not going to be coming to Travis for a while. She likes everyone at Travis and thinks that we are all smart. We believe we’re going to have a great year with Mrs. Taylor. What is a Super Lab? Well, if you look in

room 103 you will find four computers, tables, chairs and kids

working on different subjects. A Super Lab is a place to go when

you need help or are behind with school

work. It is open dur-ing the school hours, and special area teach-

ers will be there to help you catch up on anything that you’ve

missed. If you need help just ask your

teacher for permission

to go to the Super Lab.

proud of again. You’re the best.”

“Thanks for helping me with TAKS you are the reason I passed!!!!!!!!” ~ Alexis

Gas is air that is every-

where, you cannot see

it but you can feel it.

A solid is something

that does not lose its

shape. Solids are com-

posed of tiny particles

called molecules.

Liquid does not have a

definite shape but a has

a definite volume.

There are three

states of

matter, liquid,

gas, and solid.

A boy and a tree loved

each other. The tree

always helped

the boy when

he was in need.

It reminds me of

my relationship

between my

grandmother

and me. It

brings back

memories and really

touches your heart.

Meet the fastest reader to ever reach 100 points during

the opening week of Accel-erated Reading. She is the only student to ever reach

that many points. Not only has she been the fastest to accumulate 100 points, she’s also smart. She earned these

points with a 93.3% reading

average! Congratulations!

Reach for the sky. ~ There is no limit to what

you are doing. Don’t judge a book by it’s

cover. ~ Don’t judge people on the outside. Get to know them

better. Life is what you make of it.

~ You’re going to have a happy year by making good choices.

We asked a group of

students how they get

to school. The pie

chart shows the results

of how students get to

school.

Zirioun`s favorite subject is

reading. “I like reading be-

cause it makes me smart

and it helps me learn.” He

gets help from Mrs. Garcia

and Mrs. Coody. They help

him learn new words. “I

like all the other subjects,

but reading is my favorite.”

Our school newspaper was developed by the fourth grade classes during their Communica-

tions lab time. They worked diligently to get the stories together to publish them in a timely manner. A special thanks goes out to the class-

room teachers who dedicated their time to help.

The newspaper will be published monthly.

Jokes and Riddles

Harbor, a black and tan coonhound, has the

longest ears on a living dog. He has earned a

spot in the upcoming Guinness World Rec-

ords 2012 Edition. Harbor's left and right ears

measure 12.25 inches and 13.5 inches. As a

puppy he had a hard time walking because he

would trip on his ears. A rabbit may say, “I’ve never seen that rabbit

before!”

Meet Harbor - The new dog with the longest ears in the world

What do you think about

homework?

It’s a nice thing for kids because

they get to learn and study so

they can be smart in school. It’s

great for us so we can learn and

when we

grow up we

know every-

thing so we

can get a

job.
