Minnow: 6+ yearsSwimmers must swim 1 length of front crawl with rhythmic breathing and 1 length of backstroke to enter this class. Pre-Team Fins Program: 4+ yearsThese classes are designed for swimmers who are interested in learning the skills needed for competitive swimming and taught in a team format. The focus of the Fins Swim Program will be on stroke development, technique, and racing starts and turns. Swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke with no assistance & tread for at least 1 minute. Adult Beginner Swim Lessons: 17+ years | 30 minute classThis is the place to start for adults who don’t

have a lot of prior swimming experience. Participants will become more confident in the water and will learn the fundamentals of swimming and aquatic safety.Mon: 10:00amTue: 5:45pm

Adult Stroke Development:17+ years | 60 minute classDevelop basic swim strokes and use swimming as a source of fitness. It is recommended that participants have taken beginner swim lessons before enrolling in stroke development.Mon: 10:45amWed: 5:45pm

PRIVATE LESSONS (members only)

Private lessons are a great way to learn to swim or improve stroke techniques. Each lesson lasts 30 minutes. To register, fill out a request form at the Welcome Center. Springboard Diving: 7+ years | 60 minute classLearn the basics of competitive diving. Students will practice approaches such as forward and back jumps in straight position, pike and tuck body positions, and forward and back dives. In this class participants must be able to pass the deep water test and do a forward dive from the side of the pool.Sat: 8:30am

Advanced Springboard Diving: 11+ years | 60 minute classThis class is for divers who have been promoted from the beginner class or high school divers who want to perfect their advanced skills. Instructor recommendation is required. Sat: 9:30am

PIRANHAS SWIM TEAMThe PLYP Piranhas Swim Team is for children and teens between the ages of 6-18 years old. The team is designed to physically condition young swimmers and work towards perfecting competitive swimming skills. The season consists of competitions against other Y swim teams in our division as well as a variety of invitational and championship teams. The summer season begins in May and runs through the start of August. Try outs will be held during the final two weeks of April.

The Piranhas Swim Team is organized in multiple categories to allow swimmers to practice at levels congruent with their age, physical and technical abilities. Try outs will be held in order to place each swimmer into an appropriate level. If you are 8 and under, you must be able to swim 25 yards (one length) of both Backstroke and Freestyle and show a motivation to learn more about the strokes. If you are 9 and over, you must be able to swim 50 yards (two lengths) of both backstroke and freestyle and show a motivation to learn more about the strokes. All swimmers must be a YMCA of Metro North member.

CERTIFICATION CLASSESLifeguard Training: 15+ yearsM: $300 N: $425Students will be trained in the nationally recognized Red Cross Lifeguard Course including CPR, First Aid, 02 and AED. Certification is determined by successful completion of a comprehensive written exam and water test. Swimming skills are a prerequisite and attendance in all classes is mandatory. Red Cross Lifeguard Recertification: M: $100 N: $150This is a 4 hour review and testing to recertify for American Red Cross Life Guard, CPR/FA/AED and Optional Oxygen. Students should come to the review prepared and ready to show their skills. Certification must be current. Red Cross no longer accepts expired certification. Prior to taking this re-certification, please take the online refresher course found at www.redcrossrefresher.com. Refresher courses for both Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers should be completed.

AQUATICS CLASSESLifeguard Boot Camp:15+ yearsM: $60 N: $85This class is geared for those who would like to become a lifeguard but need help getting into shape for the prerequisite physical exam. This 7 week course will build up your stamina to swim 500 yards, retrieve items from the bottom of the pool, and build your strength for you to assist any size victim. Class format will be both Dry land and Aquatic training. Minimum requirements for class must be able to swim 25yds and lift a minimum of 25lbs.Tues: 5:30pm

Babysitting & Pool Safety:11-14 yearsF: $100 M: $150 N: $200Designed for students ages 11 to 14, this training provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for infants and children up to the age of 10, as well as to manage a babysitting business. This course also gives 10 to 14 year olds a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great lifeguard. Some topics for this combo class will cover First Aid, choking, CPR, medical emergencies, diapering, spoon feeding, water safety and more! Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards (4 lengths of the pool).Tues: 4:00pm

TEAM TRAINING CHALLENGEGet in shape for the summer with our results-driven 8 week program. Team up with other participants, a trainer and a nutritionist to bring your wellness to the next level! You and your teammates will be guided through an 8 week fitness and nutrition program that will be fun, motivating and challenging. If you are completely committed to making lifestyle changes, we encourage you to participate in this program regardless of your current fitness level!

• Teams will meet with their trainer twice weekly for an hour.

• Group nutrition lecture during the session.• Pre and Post fitness evaluations will be

It’s hard being pregnant and also getting back into a routine with a little one around, so we’re giving you the opportunity to bring that little one with you (children should be stroller or carrier age). Whether this class is to get you in shape for your new bundle to arrive, an escape from your little one or a chance to spend quality time with your baby, this class is the perfect option! Class includes intervals, along with strength and conditioning techniques to make every “mama” feel better and stronger. Nutritional Therapy Consultation M: $279 N: $379Balance your body chemistry and achieve optimal wellness with nutrition. You and your Nutritional Therapy Consultant will develop an easy to use road map to healthy eating. All leagues use age-appropriate basketballs and hoop settings and are focused fun and fair play. Our trained volunteer coaches will guide the players through fun games & skill building drills while emphasizing learning, teamwork and sportsmanship. Each child will receive a team jersey. Players can request a buddy/teammate.

Teams will be assigned a 1 hour time slot each week on Saturdays. Schedule is distributed prior to season start.
