Tordrillo Mountain Lodge is about 40 min by float plane from Anchorage

Page 2: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Located on Judd Lake in the Tordrillo Mountains,

the lodge provides a luxury Alaska experience

Page 3: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Every where you look on the property, you see Alaska’s beauty

Page 4: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Judd Lake has terrific fishing and the lodge provides a variety of boats for water fun

Page 5: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Tordrillo offers a fun, exciting, and safe trip for beginners and experts alike

Page 6: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The main log building sits on a rise above the lake

Page 7: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The lodge is beautifully crafted with several decks and plenty of space to enjoy

Page 8: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The decks provide beautiful views and tranquil solitude

Page 9: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

There is a wood-fired hot tub for soaking

Page 10: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

And a wood-fired sauna with a small porch on the lake

Page 11: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

This deck has views of the lake and the Tordrillos in the distance

Page 12: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Inside, the lodge is just as beautifully crafted with a copper bar and knotty details

Page 13: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The main area is a cozy and inviting place to get to know the other guests

Page 14: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Twin staircases lead to the 2nd floor where the guest rooms are located

Page 15: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Throughout the lodge, the Alaska details add a rustic, authentic touch

Page 16: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The 2nd floor has a cozy little area with books and a small deck overlooking the lake

Page 17: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

At the opposite end, there’s a comfy bed and a second deck

Page 18: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Guests can almost watch the fish from here

Page 19: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The decks are a great way to relax and reflect after a day of fun

Page 20: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Each of the rooms has two twin beds that can be pushed together to make a king

Page 21: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The guest rooms also have private bathrooms, some with standup showers only

Page 22: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

From the doors to the decorations, each detail says “Alaska”

Page 23: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Next to the main building, near the dock, is the boat house

Page 24: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Our guide shows us the options available and helps us decide on an activity

Page 25: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Behind the lodge is a trail leading to some great fishing

Page 26: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

We decide to go for a hike and check out the rest of the property

Page 27: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

We head out, with lots of bug dope

Page 28: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The hike takes us past some beautiful flowers…

Page 29: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

And some tasty berries!

Page 30: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Bruce gladly volunteered to be the subject of this photo shoot

Page 31: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

These berries aren’t quite sweet yet

Page 32: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

But they do offer a yummy treat for hungry hikers, and Bruce can’t stop eating them

Page 33: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Along with blueberries, we see several other kinds of berries

Page 34: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

It’s not a good idea to eat berries without confirming what they are first

Page 35: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Some poisonous berries look a lot like edible ones and vice versa

Page 36: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

As we hiked, we saw some delicate flowers along the way

Page 37: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The guides are very knowledgeable and can help guests identify what they see

Page 38: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Bringing a book of Alaska plants and flowers along adds fun to the hike

Page 39: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The grounds at the lodge provide many opportunities to take photos, even for Alaskans

Page 40: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

After the hike, it’s time to pick out waders and boots to go fishing

Page 41: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Our guide Chris helps choose the right gear for every one and checks for licenses

Page 42: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The lodge provides some gear, but not for fly fishing usually

Page 43: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Bruce snapped a photo of a birdhouse made out of a western boot

Page 44: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Talk quickly turns to who will catch the most fish

Page 45: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Now it’s time to head back down the trail and go kill some fish

Page 46: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

This creek feeds into Judd Lake and runs alongside the trail

Page 47: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The trail is an easy walk and doesn’t get steep when it heads uphill

Page 48: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Bears poo in the woods…

Page 49: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

And so do people….

Page 50: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

A ways down the trail, we see a weir used for counting fish returns

Page 51: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

You could almost walk across the water on the fish, there are that many of them

Page 52: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

It’s illegal to fish within 100 yards of the weir, so we keep going along the trail

Page 53: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Shortly we arrive at a good spot and make our way down to the creek

Page 54: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Even here, we can see reds right away

Page 55: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Ruth takes a look around to see where the prime spot is

Page 56: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

And then she’s off and casting!

Page 57: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Not surprising, our guide immediately hooks a fish

Page 58: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

It’s a runner!

Page 59: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The lure “snags” in the side of the fish

Page 60: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

This type of catch is not legal, since it has to be in the fish’s mouth

Page 61: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Everyone plays by the rules, so Chris unhooks the lure from the fish

Page 62: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

and gives it a nudge to get it back into the water

Page 63: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Now it’s Peter’s turn…he’s hooked a rainbow trout

Page 64: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Yea baby!

Page 65: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Ruth is up next, with a splashing silver

Page 66: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

She decides to coax him into shore

Page 67: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

He knew he didn’t have a chance, so he gave up peacefully!

Page 68: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Our guide gets the hook out and hands Ruth her bloody trophy

Page 69: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Ruth happily shows off her catch

Page 70: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Bruce got fish too!

Page 71: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

You can fish from right in front of the lodge, or head out to the lake for fun

Page 72: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Paddle boarding is another activity the lodge offers

Page 73: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

As are heli-fishing and heli-hiking

Page 74: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Ruth and I took a canoe out and paddled around the lake

Page 75: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

We stopped at a spot that was teeming with fish

Page 76: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

They were so thick they looked like blood in the water

Page 77: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

The lake is small enough that two people can easily paddle around it in an afternoon

Page 78: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Too soon it was time to get ready to go

Page 79: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Our pilot helped us stow our luggage and bags of processed fish

Page 80: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

It started raining a little as we taxied across the lake

Page 81: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

But was sunny again once we were above the lodge

Page 82: Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

We had a great time at Tordrillo!!
